"He's just going with the flow. And I remember just grabbing everything that looked like alcohol to show that Eddie is just letting loose. He's gonna go crazy, and I want him to have the worst hangover ever. Guzman called it a "self-exploration" of letting Eddie "release" all of his "responsibilities", explaining the scene as, "Let me not think about anything. Let me turn it all off. Be as much as I can in the moment." (x)

On Tommy Kinard
"It's not that I don't like Buck and Tommy, it's just happening so fast, he's underdeveloped!"
*clears throat*
Here is a recap of what we know about Tommy. And this is just off the top of my head, I didn't rewatch anything.
He was closeted at the 118 before and found the atmosphere repressive. He (probably) acted like a dick to fit in. When presented with the chance to make things better, he took it, and developed positive relationships with Hen, Chim and Bobby.
He was in the army and trained there as a pilot.
He knows Muay Thai and has a set up in his house.
He likes to work on cars and has a lift at his house (where TF does he live is my question - he has some nerve being agog at Buck's loft if he has a muay thai gym and a car lift)
He is down for violating departmental policy at the drop of a hat (has done so on at least two occasions) to help a friend and has no problems fucking with the fire chief.
He is a nerd. He likes pub trivia and has incorrect Star Wars opinions, and can keep up with Chim in the movie-quoting department.
His favorite movie is "Love, Actually" and he likes craft beer and monster trucks.
He came out when he transferred to Harbor and felt comfortable enough to stop lying about who he was.
He follows MMA and has friends in Vegas who like him well enough to hook him up to a frankly insane degree.
He'll risk his own life and engage in helicopter skulduggery to save people he doesn't know...I mean, apart from doing that for a living.
He'll take time out of his day to give a tour to the cute boy who called him up and offer to give that boy flying lessons (a significant time investment) which was probably maybe about more one on one time with said boy.
He yearns for the belonging and found family that the 118 became after his departure and probably befriended Eddie hoping to earn a plate at the cookout, aside from just clicking with him.
He likes Eddie and Chris a lot and they like him. Chimney also likes him.
He was attracted to Buck right away and was emotionally aware enough to pick up on Buck's jealous feelings over Eddie and his friendship, even if he was surprised that it was him Buck wanted to get to know.
He respects and values Buck and Eddie's friendship and wanted to make sure Buck knew that.
He's brave enough to shoot his shot by planting one on a dude.
He's a lil bitchy but also generous and ready to throw in with this insane guy who's inviting him to a family wedding after 0.5 dates.
He showed up to a bachelor party when he was on call because Buck asked him to, then showed up in turnouts after fighting a fire for like 12 hours yadda yadda we all know this part.
He has got it BAD for one Evan Buckley, who he only calls "Evan" which according to LFJR is a conscious decision by the writers, which fascinates me.
He was willing to take a chance with a man just discovering his sexuality BUT wasn't willing to put himself through that if the man in question wasn't ready for it. When Buck showed him that he was, he was all in.
He does NOT take his coffee like that.
Oh and
He's a beast.
This is VASTLY more information than we knew about ANY of Buck's previous girlfriends with the possible exception of Abby. Even Taylor did not get this much development over 20 episodes (things we knew about her: she was an ambitious and ethically flexible reporter, did not eat fudge, had a dad in jail, and sometimes jogged for exercise, she was capable of being nice and did love Buck, I believe). And as for it being fast? Sometimes it just be like that? A relationship doesn't have to have year(s) of buildup. Sometimes people do just meet, like each other, and start dating, in fact in the real world that's usually what happens. It's in TV Land that you have to have eighteen seasons of UST before pulling the trigger. Most of the time in reality people just vibe off each other and decide to go out and THEN they learn about each other.
And they've got a great start. You'd think they'd barely spoken by how a few naysayers are talking about it - the loft scene was like a solid five minutes of very open conversation, the Cringe Date seemed to have gone well and again, open and honest (if cringey) conversation before Cockblocker Eddie showed up, and the coffee meetup was again....open and honest conversation. They're not gonna show us long scenes of them exchanging firefighting stories and workout preferences (I mean, I'd watch that, but it's not what the show is about).
In conclusion, anyone saying he's poorly developed or the relationship is "out of nowhere" either is being willfully obtuse or has ridiculously unrealistic expectations for relationships and/or what constitutes character development.
As for whether they have chemistry, that's a matter of subjective opinion. Given that a TON of people watched that harbor tour scene (even when it was posted as a sneak peek) and started going "wait...what's going on here...are they flirting??" might be a clue. People were talking about Bi!Buck maybe happening with Tommy based solely off that clip of the harbor tour and what they were seeing between them. And imho that loft scene was crackling. But we all see things through the lenses of our biases, myself included.
Got that off my chest, whew.

Buddie Masterlist
Summary: Everyone goes out to a club for Chimney's bachelor party and Eddie, Evan and (Y/n) intend to make the most of their night. But an argument leads to a fight, a fall and a lot of apologies.
Enjoy.

"Leave it."
"You did not just do that." Eddie's jaw ground tight and his head tilted at an angle as he glared daggers at his boyfriend.
He did not just slap Eddie's hand like he was a child trying to snatch something he shouldn't.
He couldn't help but roll his eyes and ground his jaw when Evan had the nerve to point between him and the buffet Eddie had been trying to sample. Just because everyone wasn't here yet; more specifically, Chimney wasn't here yet. That didn't mean Eddie couldn't sample some of the food. He was starving but he wasn't selfish, he wouldn't eat loads or mess with the buffet, there would be plenty left for everyone else.
"We wait for Chimney." Evan moved to plant both hands down on his hips while he looked around the room again. It had taken him a while to get this room organised and ready and everyone promised they were going to turn up. Even Chimney agreed, considering this party was in his honour, even if he didn't exactly want it in the first place.
Evan didn't want anything being messed with or changed or moved until everyone was here. He had a system, everything had to be exact and Eddie trying the food was going to mess with that system.
"I'm. Hungry." Eddie punctuated each word and snatched a sausage roll before he jogged away when he felt his boyfriend's hand swatting down on his backside.
He would settle for a sausage roll and pray it would tide him over until everyone else arrived.
Reaching out, Eddie snatched a bottle of beer from the other table and plonked down on one of the seats in the corner. He would stay away from the buffet so he didn't get an earful or another slapped behind from his boyfriend.
He and Evan had gotten here early to set up the room, but they knew everyone would be arriving soon.
About five minutes later, the door burst open and they both glanced over to the doorway to see who was the first to arrive. Evan's jaw dropped down and Eddie choked on his beer when they both caught sight of their girlfriend stood in the doorway.
"Wow."
Adrenaline sparked through every vein in (Y/n)'s body as she tried to catch her breath back. Her men were the only ones here; she wasn't late, she was right on time. Her eyes cast down to her outfit as she gasped for air and stepped into the room so the door could shut behind her.
"What, do- do I look okay?"
"You're kidding, right?"
Evan trailed his eyes up and down (Y/n)'s frame at least five times so he could drink her in; he felt like he was drunk already just by looking at her.
She was wearing a blood red dress that stopped in the middle of her thighs, a few inches above her knees. It fanned out around her legs and Evan guessed that if she did a twirl, the dress would fan out in a frill and he would catch sight of her underwear.
The dress was cut into a V-shape down towards her cleavage and had short spaghetti straps over her shoulders, exposing her neck which made Eddie feel like a vampire, desperate to strike.
Her lips were painted a dark shade of red to match her dress and she wore a pair of white flat shoes which meant the boys would tower over her; just the way they liked it.
"You look great… what are you supposed to be?" Evan couldn't resist reaching out for her and reeling her in to his embrace.
His hands found her hips and he squeezed tightly and ducked down to capture her lips and see if they tasted as sweet as she looked. He felt her hands clamp down on his shoulders to steady herself and she roamed her hands up and down his chest when they parted.
"You said eighties, this dress is vintage." She gave a little shrug before she sauntered over towards her other partner whose eyes were glued to her legs as she advanced towards him.
(Y/n) didn't know what to dress up as and she didn't want to go all out in a costume or with make up when she knew it wasn't that kind of party. Rather than picking something or someone to be, (Y/n) just bought an old dress that was from the eighties so she still fit the bill. This would do and she could tell that it was working wonders on her boys already.
When she reached Eddie, she gasped when his hands reached out for her and he dragged her down onto his lap without a second thought. His arms bound around her waist and his lips attached to her neck, biting down harsh enough to leave a bruise in his wake.
"What're you two dressed as?"
Her eyes scanned between the pair of them, soaking them in and assessing what they were wearing and drinking in what they looked like.
Evan had on a plain white shirt that stuck to his chest, outlining his collar bone that stuck out prominently, as did his abs. Over his shirt, he wore a blazer the shade of pastel mint blue with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and matching trousers that were pulled rather high up on his waist. (Y/n) noticed that the front button on his trousers barely managed to do up, it looked like it would pop open and take someone's eye out at any moment.
But Evan looked raveshing.
And when she turned to look at Eddie who was content heaving hickeys up and down her neck, she noticed he was dressed much the same. A very pale pink button up shirt that had the first few buttons undone. A lovely baby pink jacket and matching trousers and his hair was fluffy and ruffled and looked as soft as a cloud.
"Miami Vice." Eddie murmured into her neck and when he finally lifted his head, (Y/n) twisted to capture him in a kiss. She brought her hand up to brush her thumb across his lower lip, smearing away the make up she left on his already blushing lips.
"Oh."
"Do you want a drink?" Evan motioned towards the door to signal that he would go to the bar and when (Y/n) murmured "Surprise me," she watched a light go off in Evan's eyes.
She felt Eddie chuckling into her neck when Evan sauntered out of the room. Oh, they both knew she was going to regret that later. Evan had a knack for finding the perfect drinks that tasted sweet but were very leathal, especially the cocktails he would find or even make himself.
Eddie leaned back when (Y/n) hopped off his lap and looked around the room with a grin that sparkled like a disco ball.
Why did she have to smile like that? Her smile was infectious. It always had been; it was like a drug to Eddie and he felt like he was drunk already when his girl was dressed like that with a smile that could kill.
His eyes darted down to her ruby red lips more than once until all he could stare at was the way she darted her tongue across to wet them and his breath caught in his throat for a moment. He felt his stomach tensing and pulling inwards and when (Y/n) leaned across to look over the table, Eddie's eyes followed her.
He watched the way her dress moved when she leaned forward and when (Y/n) glanced in his direction and noticed where he was looking, unabashed, she smirked and adjusted the dress a little.
"Don't be doing that." He muttered around the beer bottle in his hand and took a swig before he got up and moved to stand beside her.
"Doing what?" (Y/n) tried to feign innocence, but it didn't work when Eddie towered over her and leaned in. He motioned the bottle in his hand towards her dress and pointed towards her cleavage. He knew she pulled the dress down a little; just enough to give him a good view without being too indiscreet.
(Y/n) shivered when she felt Eddie lean in towards her and she tilted her head up in his direction, but he dipped down to hover his lips over her ear instead.
"Starting something you can't finish; They'll all be here soon. You start teasing, and we'll have to take you somewhere to adjust that dress. Everyone will notice if we slip away."
Eddie had no problems dragging (Y/n) and Evan into a bathroom or finding a room somewhere to cop off in. But he knew that (Y/n) was the one who wouldn't want people thinking that or knowing why the three of them disappeared. She wouldn't want the team to tease them if they snook off to a quiet corner.
She knew what her boys would do. They would mess with her hair and her make up and probably her dress too. It would be obvious what they had been up to if Eddie and Evan dragged her away.
She hummed quietly and turned her head in the direction of the buffet table instead. She didn't even get chance to grab a sandwich before Eddie held her wrist and brought her knuckles to his lips.
"Ah- ah. Buck wants to wait for Chimney… almost lost my arm when I went for a sausage roll."
(Y/n) took a quick glance behind her before she snatched a sausage roll and popped it in her mouth while Eddie reached for a handful of crisps and followed her lead. He wasn't here and no one else had turned up yet; he might not notice a few discrepencies in the food.
It didn't take long for the rest of the group to turn up. Hen and Karen arrived first, swiftly followed by Ravi, Tommy, and finally Chimney who was fashionably late as they'd expected. Although Tommy was the first to leave after only an hour, something that couldn't be helped considering he was on call and his fire house was short staffed.
The room they had booked out was quaint and quiet enough for them, but it became a little too constraining after a while.
Once the food was eaten and everyone was halfway to being drunk, it became tedious to keep filtering in and out of the room to fetch the drinks back and forth. Plus, there was better music and karaoke going on in out in the main bar.
So when Karen drunkenly exclaimed "Let's go have some more fun, out there!" everyone was quick to follow and filter into the bar.
Moving out of that function room and going into the actual bar felt a lot better, it was like everyone could come out of their shells and relax. But it also meant that they all started to filter into their own little groups. (Y/n) wasn't sure where Ravi had gone to, but Karen was near the bar, Hen and Chimney were on kareoke and both (Y/n)'s men were at the bar lining up some more drinks.
(Y/n) couldn't keep up with the amount of shots Evan and Eddie were taking, but she tried. Tonight was a night where they could all let loose. Chris was having a sleepover with friends, they were all free to hang out and drink into oblivion and they would somehow find their way to a taxi to get home. (Y/n) didn't want to be the only one not properly drinking or feel like she was half sober when everyone else was blatently drunk.
A lazy, mostly tipsy smile graced (Y/n)'s lips when she approached her men at the bar. She wriggled her way in between them and folded her arms over the bar just as Evan turned to look down at her.
She felt him shift so he was stood behind her and both his arms encased around her waist while his chin perched on her shoulder so he could look down at her. The way his foot was jittering against the floor and his hands were twitching against her waist made (Y/n)'s head spin. He was so fuelled on alcohol that he was starting to vibrate.
She heard him mumble "There you are, we missed you." Against her neck and the words made her smile. How someone could feel lonely after only three minutes was beyond (Y/n), but she was more than happy to make him feel loved and secure again.
"Want another drink?"
"Hm, I- I don't know where my drink's gone." (Y/n) giggled at the end of her sentence as she looked around the bar and glanced behind her. She wasn't sure where she had last seen her drink or if she had finished it. (Y/n) couldn't even recall what she had been drinking.
Her arms folded over the bar that was slightly damp and sticky with beer, vodka and God knows what else. But she didn't care. She arched her lower back out so her bum was pressing back into Evan while he curved around her like a blanket and continued to add to the hickeys littering her neck that Eddie had started up earlier.
Her fingers drummed against the counter and her lower back arched out while she leaned her head to the left until her cheek was pressing into Eddie's bicep. The contact seemed to bring him out of his dazed, drunken thoughts and a lopsided grin plastered across his face as he leaned down to press a sloppy kiss to her temple.
"Oh, hello." He murmured against her temple while he reached one hand out to flag down the bartender. "Are we having shots?"
That dark, sugary tone took (Y/n) by surprise and she glanced her eyes up to see Eddie's brow was arched up, waiting for a response. His smile was so wide that his eyes were barely open anymore and he flashed his pearly whites in a smile that was clearly intoxicated but still amusing and rather cheeky too.
Somewhere during the evening, Eddie's top buttons had come undone and his blazer sleeves were now rolled up to his elbows. He looked to have one or two marks on his shirt but even in his disshevelled state, he still looked extremely handsome.
"Yes." Evan answered before (Y/n) had the chance and she sighed playfully as Eddie ordered them a round of shots and a tray of cocktails too. So they didn't have to come back to the bar for a while, was clearly the reasoning behind that.
(Y/n) hung her head down and groaned playfully. She wasn't the best at shots. These were either going to make her throw up in the bathroom or they were going to send her mind spinning and effectively wipe the rest of the night from her memory when she woke up in the morning.
She watched the barman place their drinks down on a tray along with six shot glasses which she started to fill up, per Eddie's request.
Once the tray was filled with their drinks, Eddie reached out to take them and (Y/n) noted that he looked somewhat sober when he walked off with the drinks. He wasn't wobbling as much as before, he looked cocky rather than blackout drunk and he wasn't swaying or shaking the tray. He walked with an air of confidence that made (Y/n) smile.
And when she felt Evan's arms finally unbind from her waist to follow after their boyfriend, she moved to walk along behind him. Her steps were slightly uncoordinated and she swayed as she moved, but the room wasn't moving or rocking yet which was a good thing. She could carry on for a bit longer before they would need to call it a night.
She could see Karen was back at the booth they had acquired when they came into the main area of the bar. And Ravi had suddenly appeared out of nowhere once again. They would need some more shots.
"Wanna dance?"
When a rough hand grappled for (Y/n)'s hip and she felt a strange arm pressing into her lower back, (Y/n) quickly snapped her head to the left. She could feel the room spinning as her head turned woozy, but after a moment her vision cleared and she found herself staring at a stranger.
He had a rather wicked smile that showed his teeth and it made his upper lip curl. And the way his eyes were narrowed and raking her up and down made (Y/n) want to adjust her dress and pull the cleavage back up to stop this stranger from leering at her.
Her teeth sank down into her lower lip, trying her best not to frown or glare at this stranger, she didn't want to give the wrong impression or come across as rude.
Her shoulders pulled in and she stepped to the right to add a gap of space between them while she tried to shake her head.
"No, thanks." (Y/n) thought her response was okay, she didn't sound snotty or rude or ungrateful, although she had no reason to be so kind when he simply grabbed her and seemed to think she would automatically agree.
But the arm around her back stayed and his hand seemed to tighten on her hip until his fingers were scrunching up in her dress. And his other hand moved to clamp down around her left wrist which he used to pull her back towards him. He stepped to the left, practically dragging (Y/n) with him as he ticked his head to the side to indicate to the dance floor.
"Come on, you'll enjoy it. I promise." She could smell the alcohol entwined with his words and the way he leered close made her lean back until she was almost bent back over his arm.
Her head desperately looked towards the booth where her partners were as she moved her hand and pushed against his chest.
"No." She managed to give him a shove but he didn't let go of her wrist, causing a slight sting when he tried to yank her back. Her head angled to the side and her eyes desperately locked with Evan just as he finished one of the shots from the tray. "Evan- please!"
She wasn't quite sure what she was begging of him or if her partner could even hear her, but the distress must have been clear on her face. For Evan tossed the shotglass down on the table so it bounced off the tray and clattered beside Ravi who almost jumped up in shock.
The sleeves of Evan's baby blue jacket were bunched up around his elbows, showing off his straining forearms and the veins bulging against his skin as his hands clenched into fists. His head angled down and his jaw locked tight as he stormed towards (Y/n).
He looked dangerous with a mix of confusion, jealousy and a slight drunken haze washing over those deep blue pools and those dark pupils.
"Hands off her. Now." There was something frightening in Evan's tone, but it had (Y/n)'s knees ready to cave in when it was mixed with that dangerous look in his eyes.
She watched with a fluttering heart as Evan stood beside her, close enough that his chest was pressing into her arm and he reached across until his hand clamped around the stranger's much smaller wrist. With a sharp twist, Evan thrust the man's arm to the side once he released (Y/n) and Evan bound his arms around her waist, reeling her towards him instead.
He didn't care who this idiot was or what he thought he was doing. (Y/n) looked worried and she had clearly said no. That meant leave her alone, not try and convince her otherwise.
She felt Evan mutter "You alright?" against her temple to which she nodded and smoothed her hand up and down his chest to try and stop him from starting a fight. They just needed to walk away.
"Back off and leave her alone." Evan reached out and gave the man a shove in his shoulder which successfully knocked him back a few paces towards the dance floor.
He could feel his chest heaving up and down as (Y/n) curled her hands around his bicep and tugged gently to try and coax him back to the booth. They had drinks to down and drunken friends to be around. They didn't need to waste time and energy arguing with an idiot like that who probably wouldn't remember any of this come morning.
Evan allowed (Y/n) to pull him back and a shiver tore down his spine when her hands found his hips and she turned him to face the booth. She gave a little nudge until he started to walk with the feeling of her face pressing up between his shoulder blades and her hot breath fanning against his blazer causing shivers to run up and down his spine.
"You still owe me a dance." (Y/n) could feel those words piercing through her skin as a hand tried to grapple for her hip to pull her back. Which caused him to yank on her dress and almost tear the fabric.
A gasp tore past (Y/n)'s lips as she bashed her arm behind her to whack him and push him away.
She stumbled to the side when Evan whipped around, eyes ablaze with fire and his upper lip curling into a snarl when he realised the man was still trying to pursue her after being warned off.
"Pretty sure I've already told you to fuck off." Despite how many drinks he'd already had, Evan's words were surprisingly clear and his movements were quick and precise. He clenched his hands around the man's shirt and used it as leverage to pull him forward until the tips of his shoes were skidding against the floor.
"Eddie!"
A groan tumbled past Eddie's lips and he rolled his eyes as he quickly choked down the cocktail he'd been drinking before he thrust his glass towards Karen. He swiped his sleeve beneath his mouth, catching the remnants of juice that dribbled past his lips as he weaved out of the booth and aimed for his partners.
His hand found (Y/n)'s shoulder and his eyes swept her up and down, making sure she was alright before he moved to stand beside Evan and gripped his bicep.
"Hey- hey, what's going on?" He gripped Evan's arm tighter and tighter and his other hand moved to press against Evan's chest, trying to nudge him back so he would let go of whoever he was starting a fight with. They were here to have a good time and be drunk with friends, they didn't need to be starting fights and getting themselves kicked out of bars. They weren't teenagers anymore.
"He won't take no for an answer and insisted on grabbing (Y/n)." The grunt at the end of his sentence was followed by Evan giving the man another shove as he let go of his shirt which was now crumpled.
Eddie's eyes quickly darted back towards (Y/n) and his brows furrowed in confusion as he waited for her to respond.
"He tried pulling me to the dance floor." She muttered quietly while her hands rubbed up and down her arms and she stayed stood to one side so she was out of reach. Just in case he tried again to reach out for her.
"Alright," Eddie closed his eyes for a moment to stop the double vision from getting any worse before he stepped a bit closer so he was in between his boyfriend and the stranger who was getting far too close to their girl. "You, back off to whatever corner you crawled out of. And you come with us and have a drink."
(Y/n) tried to nod and she curled her hands around Evan's arm to try and pull him back. If they all went and sat down and finished their drinks, this idiot would realise no one was going to give him the time of day and (Y/n) clearly wasn't interested. They didn't need to start anything.
Eddie wished the man would have just listened and did as he was told. He could have gone back to whatever corner he had been in and found someone drunk and willing to dance with him.
But instead, the man side stepped so he was leering at (Y/n) as a few people began to edge closer and crowd round, clearly anticipating a fight.
"I was dealing with her, not the bodyguards."
When he reached out for (Y/n) again, both Eddie and Evan shoved him back. Neither of them were letting him touch or get close to their girlfriend.
"Get the fuck back."
"Move-"
"Babe, don't- stop it both of you!" (Y/n) grappled for Eddie's arm when he looked like he was about to reel back and punch the stranger and she tried to nudge Evan back so he wouldn't be tempted to fight too.
She knew Chimney and Hen were now hurrying over to try and help prevent a fight from taking place. The pair of them needed to step back, they needed to stop and call security and get this idiot to stay away from them. Fighting wasn't going to do any of them any good.
She wasn't sure who started pushing first, but she knew the moment an unfamiliar hand tried to grab at her, that it was Eddie who threw the first punch. He saw the touch and smashed his fist into the stranger's nose before he could think better of it.
A guttural "Get back." Spat past Evan's lips as he shoved the stranger before he swung his arm round and pushed against (Y/n) to stop her from getting any closer. He knew she was trying to get in the middle of them to stop the fight but by doing that she would land a punch and get hurt.
Evan's arm bashed into her chest a little too forcefully and he swung his arm right round to shove (Y/n) behind him where she should have stayed in the first place so she wasn't anywhere near this creep.
He pushed a little too hard.
He knocked (Y/n) hard enough that she tripped over her feet and in her drunken state, she couldn't find her sense of balance quick enough. (Y/n)'s hands grappled for Evan's arm but she couldn't hold onto him in time.
She didn't realise she had been standing so close to the steps that led down to the toilets until her foot skidded off the top step and she went flying back.
A scream broke past her lips as it felt like she was flying through the air. Her hands waved frantically in front of her but she cringed and began to shake when she landed with a crash on the steps. There were only four stairs in total that led down to the hallway toilets but each one seemed to cement against (Y/n)'s back and sent shockwaves running through her system.
The back of her head slammed against the floor and sent her vision black with little spots dancing before her like stars twinkling in the midnight sky.
Tremors rattled through her body as she tried to move but she couldn't find the willpower. All she could do was gasp and groan, trying in vain to get the air back to her lungs.
"Jesus, Buck!" Eddie smashed his hand into Evan's shoulder and gave him a rough push to one side so he could stumble towards the stairs.
Eddie moved his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose and he shook his head to try and sober himself up a little before he crouched down beside (Y/n).
Both hands moved to cup either side of her face and his thumbs swiped across her cheekbones beneath her eyes as he tried to check that she was still conscious and that she could actually see him. She could have a concussion or broken ribs or any number of sprains or injuries.
"Baby, you with me?"
(Y/n) choked through another groan but she managed to nod and her hand reached up to curl around Eddie's wrist. She shuddered when someone else knelt down beside her but when she realised it was only Hen, she let herself relax.
Her arms weakly moved out towards them both and waved until they took the hint and carefully eased her up from the floor. Eddie moved his free hand to her lower back and he shuffled her off the stairs so she was sat on the floor.
"Fuck." She mumbled quietly, moving one hand to rub the back of her head before she curled both her arms around Eddie's neck and leaned into him, hoping he got the hint.
She heard him mumbling "Alright baby," and his hands found purchase on her waist as he got to his feet and eased her up with him. He didn't like the way she wobbled back and forth but she was stood on both feet and she wasn't crying or whimpering in agony. She didn't seem to have any strains or injuries to her legs and she was moving her arms and bending just fine.
Maybe the alcohol was softening the blow or maybe she didn't land that hard, either way, Eddie was glad they wouldn't have to make a drunken trip to the hospital tonight.
When Evan reached out for them both, Eddie frowned and gave him a light tap around the back of the head. "You could've knocked her out-"
"You didn't exactly help either, Eddie!" Evan hissed in retaliation before he reached out for (Y/n). His hands cupped either side of her face and he bent his knees to be level with her as he leaned forward until their noses were pressed together. "Sorry baby, I'm sorry. You okay?"
The panic was evident in his drunken eyes and the rest of the group were crowding round to make sure they didn't have to call for help or all take a trip to hospital.
But the grumbling smile on (Y/n)'s lips and the way she scrunched her nose and nodded made them all relax.
She stole a quick kiss from Evan's lips to calm down the panic in his eyes before she gave him a gentle nudge in the chest.
"You'd better buy me a drink for that, Buckley."
***
A groan burst past Evan's lips as he snapped his head up and tried to open his eyes. It took all his will power to manage to get his vision into focus so he would see where he was and what was going on.
Where was he? What had he been doing? Why didn't anything look familiar? Why couldn't he remember what he had been doing before he passed out?
He was laid on the floor. He was sprawled out on the floor that was littered with feathers, broken pillows, stray covers and sheets and a lot of glasses and bottles. He was still wearing his suit from the party- of course, the bachelor party! Although as Evan tried to look at his suit, he realised it was ruined; splattered with drinks, food remnants and God knows whatever else.
Every part of his system felt broken and sore and he coughed as he planted his hands down on the floor and slowly sat himself up. His head lolled back and forth and everything seemed to spin around him, and not in a good way either.
"God… Eddie… (Y/n)?" He moved his hand to cradle his temple as he winced and groaned.
When he looked around the room, a few splattered memories started to come back to him in odd bits and pieces. He remembered a lot of karaoke. He remembered drinking, specifically shots and cocktails with the group. He recalled Chimney being the first to leave which had been a dampener on the night, but he knew the rest of them carried on partying.
He wasn't sure what room they were in though, they hadn't booked a room for tonight. Maybe this was Chimney's room. He had probably gone to Hen's for the night, he hadn't been keen on staying at a hotel in the first place.
"Fuck, what happened?"
Eddie couldn't feel his legs. His head was swaying back and forth as his vision took its time figuring itself out and coming back into order. He had gone to sleep in the bath.
It was empty, thankfully. He couldn't imagine waking up in freezing cold water, that would have made him sick. His legs were hanging over the edge of the tub which was pressing uncomfortably into the creases of his knees. His lower legs had gone numb which meant he had been asleep like this for a few hours at least.
He glanced around the room and found his boyfriend just beginning to get up from the floor. So Evan had gone to sleep on the floor, interesting. He'd never done that before. That begged the question, where was (Y/n)?
Eddie was grateful for Evan's hands when he came over to stand in front of him and carefully helped him out of the tub. They both wobbled and stumbled unsteadily on their feet but when Eddie glanced ahead to the other side of the room, his lips quirked into a smile and he pointed across.
He could see their girlfriend on the bed. He pointed across to the bed and the pair of them slowly headed (Y/n)'s way and as Eddie glanced down at himself, he grimaced. His soft pink trousers were rather dark and gritty now, stained beyond repair.
Somehow during the course of the night, he had removed his shirt but managed to get his blazer back on and he was still wearing his bowtie even with his chest exposed.
It must have been a good night.
When the pair of them trudged over towards the bed, a smirk flooded each of their faces.
There she was. Their girl, laid across the centre of the bed rather than near the pillows which were admittedly strewn about the bed and the floor. Her feet were hanging over the side of the bed and her arms were sprawled out ahead of her as she laid on her stomach with her cheek smushed into the plush covers.
Her hair looked to be skewed and toussled all about the place, but it was the sight of that blood red dress she had been wearing all night which made both men smirk. Her dress was undone at the back and it looked like it had slid down her chest and had become ruffled and stuck around her waist instead.
With a huff, Eddie flopped down onto the bed just behind her and he leaned his weight up on his hand while his free hand moved to delicately trace designs and patterns across (Y/n)'s shoulder and the back of her neck. His head angled to one side as he smiled softly while Evan crouched down beside the bed.
Evan crossed his arms on the bed and leaned over until his face was angled close to (Y/n)'s.
"Morning baby," He whispered softly, moving his hand a little so his finger traced her chin and then her lower lip. Unable to resist once (Y/n) hummed and her eyes began to flutter, Evan leaned over and pecked her lips. There was a faint hint of cherry lingering on her lips and it made him hum and angle his head for a deeper kiss.
As his fingers traced over (Y/n)'s exposed back, a frown etched onto Eddie's features and his skin bristled as he sat up straighter.
"Buck…" He leaned forward and nudged his foot into Evan's side to catch his boyfriend's attention.
"What, you getting jealous?" He was only jesting and without waiting for a response, Evan leaned over (Y/n)'s back so he could snatch a kiss from their boyfriend too. He smiled into the kiss until Eddie pulled back after only a brief touch.
The loss of contact made Evan frown until he felt Eddie's hand ghosting along his jaw until Eddie had hold of his chin and began to angle Evan's head down.
"No, look."
Eddie didn't like what he saw and he watched Evan's face morph into a look of utter distress when he looked down at (Y/n)'s back. With her dress undone and pooling towards her bum, it exposed her skin to their eyes. She had deep plum purple bruises on almost every column of her spine and there looked to be some swelling around her back too.
For a moment, Evan felt like someone had grappled into his chest and had their hands around his lungs, squeezing until he had no air left. It took him a lot longer than it should have to fathom out why their girlfriend looked like she had been beaten black and blue.
The fight. The steps. The fall.
Evan had unintentionally done that to her. He had tried to keep her safe but he ended up pushing her on those stairs instead. He had caused those deep bruises on her back that looked like she had been painted a different colour. That was his fault.
"Oh, shit." He breathed, utter guilt weaving into his tone as he flopped to sit down on the bed on (Y/n)'s other side.
"What?"
(Y/n) groggily blinkered her eyes open and looked up at Evan with pouting lips and confusion plastered across his face. What was he thinking, what was he talking about?
She took a deep breath and moved her hands down against the mattress so she could push herself up and she scrambled her legs so she was kneeling up on the bed in between them both. Her hand moved to her hair, brushing loose, knotted strands from her face while she tilted her head back and tiredly looked between her men.
But when she straightened up, she couldn't help the way she winced and groaned when her back clicked. Her whole back was aching. It felt like she had been used as a punching bag. Perhaps she had slept funny or her back had gotten too cold during the night and her muscles had seized up, although it felt like her spine was hurting more than her muscles. They had all been rather drunk last night, after all.
Pinching the bridge of nose, Eddie sighed and shook his head a little to try and ward off the hangover that was raging a storm inside his head and causing his stomach to do summersaults. Once his head felt a little clearer, he reached out for (Y/n)'s elbows and he carefully urged her to shuffle off the bed and stand up which caused her to whine quietly.
"Come here, amor, I need to take a look at you."
He easily manoeuvred her in front of him, hiding a gentle smile behind a stoic expression when her dress pooled around her feet.
Kicking her foot out, (Y/n) tossed the dress to one side so she wouldn't trip over it. She had already figured that it was just the three of them in this room which meant she was okay to stand here in just her underwear in front of her men.
Eddie's words had clearly meant something else in (Y/n)'s mind because she took a sharp breath and frowned when his hands moved to her hips and he spun her round so her back was facing him. She thought he wanted to look at her, probably with a sense of hunger in his eyes. So why had he turned her to face away from him?
It was clear Evan felt bad, Eddie noticed the sorrow bubbling up in his boyfriend's eyes and the way Evan had both hands clasped together between his parted knees and how he was hunched over showed he was feeling sorry for himself. For what he had unintentionally done.
He tried to lift his gaze but seeing the bruises didn't make Evan feel better, it made him want to be sick. He hadn't meant to hurt her, he only wanted to move her out the way of that creep last night.
Eddie's left hand stayed clamped around (Y/n)'s hip while his right hand carefully started to press and prod against each column of her spine and around the bruises. If there was a lot of swelling or parts were too tender they might have to take a trip to the emergency room after the wedding reception.
"Wh- ow, ow Eddie that hurts." (Y/n) whined and reached her arm behind her to whack his hand away. Whatever he was doing hurt. He was making her jerk forward and pull away from his touch, something that never happened.
With a deep frown and confusion pooling in her eyes, (Y/n) wriggled out of Eddie's grasp and wobbled over to the full length mirror across from the bed. She turned around so her back and bum were facing the mirror and looked over her shoulder to see what the boys had been looking at.
"God, what did you two do to me last night?" The shock was evident in her voice as she stared at the bruises, but she didn't dare touch any of them.
A low smirk pulled at Eddie's lips and he shook his head with a laugh when (Y/n) looked over at them. So maybe the boys left a lot of marks and hickeys on her skin after a fun night, that wasn't really a secret, but they didn't leave marks like that on (Y/n) and especially not in a strange place like that.
She usually ended up with marks on her hips or the inside of her thighs and hickeys on her neck. They never left bruises like that on her, but it was rather funny to Eddie that (Y/n) thought they'd had a good enough night last night to do something like that and her not remember any of it.
"Nothing so exciting, mi amor."
"There was a fight, I tried to get you out the way…" Evan scratched the back of his neck as he finally looked up to meet (Y/n)'s gaze.
He saw the moment it clicked in her mind and she remembered. The brief argument they'd had with that stranger and the tumble she'd taken on the stairs. A grimace flooded Evan's face but his eyes didn't look away from (Y/n) as she walked back towards them.
"We both did, Dios we're sorry baby. We didn't mean to hurt you." Eddie reached his hand out and curled his fingers around her hip when she was close enough. He had been to blame as well, Evan might have tried to push her to keep her safe but Eddie had been arguing too and he had thrown the first punch. This was his fault as well.
Evan wasn't quite sure what he was expecting their girlfriend to do, but having her loop her arms around his neck and plant herself down on his lap was definitely not what he had in mind.
His hands quickly moved to hold her hips to keep her secure on his lap and he held his breath when she leaned forward and tucked her face into the crook of his neck. He could feel her teeth grazing against his skin and he already knew that she was going to be leaving a mark there as if to make them both even.
The frown that had been etched onto his face quickly changed into a smile, especially when he noticed Eddie's hand on (Y/n)'s lower back and his lips on her shoulder as he leaned towards them both.
(Y/n) pressed a few hollow kisses against Evan's throat, just enough to have his breathing turn shallow. Before she pulled back and looked between them both with one arm looped around the back of Evan's neck and her other hand moving to graze along Eddie's chin.
"Well? How are you gonna make it up to me?"

if tommy ends up going to chim's bachelor party...if eddie perhaps starts getting a little jealous himself because now buck and tommy are spending all their time together...and it's like, he knows they have a thing going on, and he's so proud of buck for figuring out that piece of himself, y'know? but he doesn't quite get this sinking feeling everytime he sees tommy lean over to whisper something in buck's ear, or buck's hand landing casually on tommy's thigh, or why his stomach is doing backflips whenever they kiss...and it's like, he knows he's not homophobic, he'd broken up with marisol because of all the vitriol she chose to spout at buck upon finding out about him and tommy, but he doesn't quite get why he feels so fucking off watching them together, why it feels like he's all out of place. and buck, he knows eddie better than anyone else, y'know? and he pulls eddie up on his shit, and they've just been through this, and buck apologised, and realised he'd been a fucking idiot, and they worked through it. but now, now eddie's acting the exact same way and it's like i thought you didn't have a problem with me and tommy? and eddie's like i didn't! i don't! i just— and he cuts himself short because the lightbulb in his mind is burning so bright it feels like it might scorch him, and he sees the moment buck spots it too, his eyes widening and his jaw slack and he's like you just what, eddie? eddie, c'mon, it's me, what is it? and eddie's fucking done because of course. of course its buck. of course its BEEN buck. and he tries to storm past buck and buck catches him by the shoulder and eddie feels like he might explode and he rips his arm away from buck so violently that it not only tears his shirt, but knocks over a lantern in the process and of fucking course, because the universe loves to fuck with him, it lands at buck's feet, setting his pants alight so now eddie, by virtue, is shirtless, putting out a fire, and in love with his best friend. wonderful. excellent. the universe needs to stop screaming.

just thinking about how tommy really lets buck set the pace in their relationship. Even before he knows buck has never been with a guy before. he asks buck if kissing him was okay then asks if he’s free Saturday. He doesn’t lead with “wanna go out on Saturday?” Or “let’s go to dinner” he asks a question that has an easy out. buck can easily say “no, I’m sorry I have [insert excuse here]” and that would’ve been acceptable.
On the date, even when buck is shoving tommy back into the closet, he keeps his disappointment to himself (no, the closet remark was not outing anyone do not start with me), and gently lets buck go— again, giving him an out without buck having to feel embarrassed or figure out a way to let tommy down gently. he even tells him he’s adorable after all that with eddie!
getting coffee, he doesn’t sit until he’s sure evan’s comfortable with it, then he lets buck lead the conversation and reassures him that the date didn’t end because of buck’s behavior. He lets buck know he’s still interested, but leaves it there for buck to decide what to do with the info.
There’s been conversations between the cafe and the bachelor party. buck wants to hold off on them officially being a couple until the wedding, and tommy respects that. Only shows affection when eddie is there because eddie knows anyway.
Buck leads the kiss in the hospital, then leads tommy into chimney’s room, leads him through the crowd with a soot filled face to introduce/reconnect him to everyone. Tommy follows.
Even at their little dinner in the finale, buck leads where the conversation goes. Gets flirty first and tommy follows his lead.
Anyway, don’t know where this was going I just think tommy is an incredible human being who deserves all the love in the world.

I chose an alternate prompt for Day Nine of Bucktommy Fluffebruary: Drunken Love Confessions. Tommy's is really the prompt filling one, but everyone feels the love in this Chili's tonight. I realized I completely forgot this entire time that Melton is a Captain, so I've been writing him as just one of the other firefighters and made up some guy named Bryant that I mention in at least one other prompt fill. Melton bb I'm so sorry. You'll get that promotion soon. Tagging @bucktommyfluffebruary.
A joint bachelor party had been Tommy’s idea, because they’d fought over who got who as a guest for about five minutes before Tommy realized they had almost all the same friends. So why bother splitting the party up?
Maddie, Eddie, and Sal organize it as Evan’s co-Best Man and Woman and Tommy’s Best Man, and it turns into a bar crawl with a couple stops at places to get real food with a karaoke spot as their final destination. That had been Howie’s touch, because he felt guilty for missing the last karaoke bachelor party even though it was through no fault of his own. Plus, who doesn’t like karaoke?
The thing is, the last bar had been a tiki place, and tiki drinks are strong, so they’re all messes by the time they reach the karaoke place. Tommy claims a corner of the couch and pulls Evan into his lap when his fiancé passes by.
“You’re so-o pretty,” Tommy says, because Evan is so pretty. No one prettier has ever existed, and it’s a thought he’s had while he was sober, so it’s true.
“You’re pretty,” Evan counters, cupping his chin and squeezing so Tommy’s lips pucker. When Evan kisses him, it’s sloppy and probably not appropriate for their friends and family, but it’s a bachelor party. It’s two bachelor parties, actually they’re supposed to have double the debauchery.
“Are you gonna give me a lapdance later?” Tommy asks, squeezing his hip.
“Maybe,” Evan says, licking his lips, and Tommy watches his tongue raptly. He wants to chase it with his own, wants to feel it trace along his—
“Oh, my god, I’m going to dump water on you two in a minute,” Karen says, plopping down next to them. “Which one of you is singing with me?”
“Me,” Tommy says, grinning at her. He loves singing with Karen. She’s one of the best singers he’s ever met in his life, so he likes being around her when she sings. He’s not very good, but she doesn’t judge him.
“My Sonny,” she coos, pinching his cheek.
“My Cher,” he sighs.
Sonny Bono was known for two things: being Italian and not being as good a singer as Cher. Well, he was known for other things, too, but that isn’t relevant to Tommy’s situation. He doesn't plan on becoming a Republican, the mayor of Palm Springs, or a U.S. Representative. He does, however, plan on doing his best to croon along with Karen to “I Got You Babe” or “All I Ever Need Is You,” because she gets to belt more lines in that one and he wants to show her off.
There’s a bit of hubbub near the door to their suite, and then Bobby and Athena appear with a cake between them to a lot of cheers. They hadn’t joined them on the bar crawl, because Athena had said it would feel too much like Mom and Dad crashing their kids’ party. Tommy’s delighted to see them, because he hadn’t been expecting them at all. He and Evan cheer, and Evan wobbles out of his lap to hug them as soon as the cake is set on the table. Tommy gets hauled up by Hen so he can do the same thing, because the couch is deep and he is tall and drunk.
“You good?” Hen asks, and Tommy squeezes the back of her neck with a laugh.
“I'm great,” he says, leaving a wet kiss on her cheek.
Hen laughs and holds his head in place so she can do the same, and they end up simultaneously wiping slobber off their cheeks and giggling together on their way over to Bobby and Athena.
He’s gotten really close with Bobby and Athena ever since he and Evan got back together, but he’s not really a hugger with them. He is, however, drunk enough that it seems like a great time to turn into one. As he’s enveloped in Bobby’s arms and then stoops to have Athena do the same, he thinks it’s a good thing to keep going.
“Don’t be too happy to see us yet,” Athena warns, nodding toward the cake. “Hen ordered it.”
“I'm always happy to see a cake,” Tommy says, grinning. When he finally gets a good look at it, though, he bursts out laughing.
It’s unbelievably stupid, and Tommy whips out his phone to take several photos from many different angles, including one of Evan crouched next to it with his tongue near the one that’s shaped—presumably—like Tommy’s ass. It's one of those molded sexy cakes, and it’s two shapely naked asses seen under the hem of non-regulation turnout jackets—they’d never sit that high—with each of their names “sewn” on the hem. Each of their surnames has been added to the other to make it look like it’s handwritten into the correct spot to make them say “Buckley-Kinard.”
He loves it.
He loves everyone in this room so much.
“We should've had this be the wedding cake,” Evan says as he slips his arm around Tommy's waist. They pose next to the cake for pictures.
“Looks like I get to eat your ass twice tonight,” Tommy murmurs through his teeth as Howie takes their picture.
Howie bursts out laughing and shows them the picture. Evan’s face is caught between a grin and surprise, so his eyebrows are up near his hairline and his face is bright red.
“The hell did you say to him, BK?” Lucy asks, elbowing him.
“Not telling,” Tommy says, hugging his fiancé like a teddy bear. “She started calling me that last week. Know why?”
“It's your new last name initials in a week?” Evan guesses, because he's smart. He's so smart and pretty, and Tommy is the luckiest guy in the world.
“Yeah,” he confirms with a happy sigh, getting caught in his fiancé’s eyes for a moment.
“Alright, now that everyone’s here,” Sal says on the microphone, even though they’re in a small room and everyone could hear him if he just raised his voice enough, “I’d like to say a couple words, because there’s some stuff I can’t say in my Best Man speech. Such as: is anyone else dreading having to knock real loud going into every room these two are in for the next few months?”
“We already do that!” Ravi calls, and Tommy buries his face in his hands to hide his flushed, embarrassed giggles. Evan tightens his arms around him and kisses under his ear with a breathless giggle of his own.
“Seriously, I’ve started bringing earplugs if I’m going to crash in their guest room,” Sal adds, grinning. “I haven’t seen two people so into each other since I met Gina and got charged with public indecency twice—”
“Should’ve been three times,” Athena adds.
He points to her and grins. “And I thank you for that, Sarge. But it’s bad enough that I’ve had to start putting fuckin’ blinders on whenever Tommy opens his phone around me—well done, Buckley, by the way, you got a real eye for photography—but they’re also so in love with each other that it makes the rest of us look bad. I can only hope that they chill out in the next fifty years, but we all know we’re still going to be loudly announcing ourselves before we turn a corner even when they’re retired.
“So congratulations, boys, on finding true love, holding onto it, and never letting go of it,” he continues, his grin widening. “And never letting go of other things, apparently. To Tommy and Buck!”
Everyone cheers and echoes his toast, and Tommy is never going to be able to look any of them in the eye again.
“We’re not that bad, are we?” he asks, and Evan laughs loudly in his ear.
“Baby, we’re worse.” He nuzzles his cheek and murmurs, “They don’t even know what we get up to in our own house.”
Tommy bites his lip and is about to respond when he hears Sal call, “See what I mean?”
“Shut up,” Tommy says, throwing a balled up napkin at him. “Maddie, would you like to make an inappropriate speech?”
“I’m alright,” she says, grinning. “I changed Buck’s diapers, so it would be a little weird. Also, I make a lot of noise when I’m in your house for a reason. I don’t need to see all that.”
“I told you!” Evan says to Tommy, who had believed that Maddie was just comfortable at their house.
“Eddie?” Sal offers, and Eddie comes up to the platform acting as the stage, looping an arm around Sal’s shoulders.
“This guy is right,” he says, nodding toward Sal. “But he doesn’t have to work with Buck. So let me tell you all about how I walked in on these two Facetiming while Buck was in the showers. Thankfully, Buck’s got waterproof earbuds. Unfortunately, I could still hear him speak.”
“Oh no,” Evan groans, hiding his face in his hands. “Eddie, you said you were going to be washing the engine.”
“Yeah, and then Joey from B-shift kindly offered to do it instead, so I wandered my happy ass into the showers and heard my best friend complain, ‘But it won’t fit,’” he says, his voice taking on a high, breathy quality. “And then: ‘You’re going to have to force it.’ So I, being a family man—shut up, Chimney—loudly announced myself to the room, because what if Cap walked in? What if Hen walked in? What if literally anyone walked in?”
“Should I be hearing this?” Maddie asks.
“And I hear Buck call, ‘Hey, Eddie, Tommy might need you to help him drop in this transmission after work if you’re free,’” Eddie says flatly, and the whole room erupts in laughter. “And, yes, I did help, because that Chevelle was beautiful. Do I believe that they were actually talking about a transmission? I do, because otherwise I’d need to pour bleach in my ears. Is it very telling that I genuinely thought they’d get up to that kind of thing at literally any time of day when one or both of them is working? Yeah, a little. You guys are unbelievable. I love you both, I can’t wait to be there for you guys when you get married. I thank you for including my son in your ceremony, because he loves both of you more than you’ll ever know, but keep it PG around the kid, okay?”
“We always do!” Evan protests.
“No, we do,” Tommy agrees quickly as Eddie comes to them for hugs. “I promise.”
“Oh, I know, or I’d be making you answer whatever questions he’d be asking,” Eddie says, patting his cheek.
“Let’s get a groom up here,” Sal says to a round of cheers.
“Alright,” Tommy says, kissing Evan before going to Sal and grabbing the mic. “Alright, I get it, we’ll—well, I’m sorry, I can’t make any promises other than ‘we’ll try.’ But—Sal, sit down, you mook—I swear we don’t mean to be that bad. Anyway, I am not standing here to defend our very healthy and normal attraction to each other—”
“Oh, my god,” Evan says, burying his face in his hands as Eddie cackles next to him.
“—I’m here to thank you all for putting up with us,” Tommy says, looking out at the grinning faces of everyone he loves, even though they’re all a little blurry. “And for being there for us through everything, good and bad, and being people we can go to when things are bad or I’m freaking out about proposing or whatever it is I’m freaking out about at the time. I love you guys so much. You’re all amazing and wonderful, and sometimes I have to remind myself this isn’t a dream, because you’re the family I always wanted but didn’t think I’d get. So, thank you. I love you, thank you for being here and for always being there for us. Someone please take this microphone from me.”
Howie rushes the platform to hug him around the middle, and then Maddie, Karen, Hen, Lucy, Ravi, Melton, Eddie, and Sal follow until Tommy is in the center of a group hug. He can see over almost everyone’s heads, and so he can see the way Evan’s beaming at him with tear-filled eyes and the way that Bobby and Athena go to either side of his fiancé to put an arm around him and smile at Tommy, too.
There’s a chorus of “We love you”s from everyone, and then Tommy wrestles his arm free so he can bring the mic to his lips.
“Alright, who’s first on the list?” he asks.
“Me!” Lucy calls, making grabby hands for the mic.
He hands it off and detangles himself from the group so he can go to the three people standing off to the side.
“Liquid courage?” Athena guesses, patting his cheek with a fond smile.
“Yeah, a little,” Tommy admits, grinning. “That obvious?”
She snorts and fixes him with a knowing look. “Only to anyone with eyes.”
He gets a tight hug from a damp-eyed Bobby, who gruffly tells him he's proud of him and that he loves him, too. Tommy kind of sags against him for a second before getting a full-bodied hug from Athena that shouldn’t make him feel so small, and then there’s Evan in front of him.
“I love you,” Tommy says, his insides gooey and molten like they always are when Evan’s smiling at him like that. “Most of all.”
Evan steps into his space and puts his arms around him, crossing his wrists behind Tommy’s neck. “I love you most of all, too. You’re so drunk, babe.”
“I am.” He hugs Evan around the middle and rubs his cheek on the soft sweater he’s wearing. It feels nice. “Do we really scar them that much?”
Evan’s body shakes against his with laughter. “Yeah, I think we do.”
“Should we stop?”
“Nah, we’ll enjoy it while it lasts. Kids’ll probably slow us down.”
Tommy melts against Evan, letting him take his entire weight. Kids. They’ll have kids one day, and maybe grandkids, and he’s going to be scared out of his mind that he’s going to fuck them up and he has an entire group of people to turn to when that happens. It takes a village, and he has one. He knows he’s crying, but they’re happy tears. His face is also hidden in Evan’s neck, so no one can see.
But he doesn’t really care if they do. They’re family. Family cries around each other and doesn’t judge. Real families, at least, like theirs.
He sways with Evan to the sound of Ravi and Lucy wailing “Don’t You Want Me” by Human League into their microphones, and he feels something deep inside his heart finally heal.

EDDIE DIAZ is unexpectedly the life of the party. Sure, he seems like he’d be fun, but never like this.
It started at Chimney’s “bachelor party”, which he never actually showed up to. Buck had been excitedly planning it all week, all the while Chimney was telling him that he never wanted a bachelor party and Buck being Buck, insisted that he planned one for him. Now, here you sat.
You, Eddie, and Buck counted the minutes as they passed, praying at least someone would show up or at least come back to keep them company.
After about 20 or so minutes, Buck finally realized no one was coming and made the bright decision to invite the other people outside clubbing into the private suit.
After many tequila shots and bad decisions, the group of you had somehow ended up at Chimney’s hotel room. You all stormed in, immediately beginning to party all over again.
You, Eddie, and Buck raced to Chimney’s door, knocking to try and get him up. When you received no response you joined the rest and continued to party.
You couldn’t remember what part of the night got you to where you were now, pinned beneath Eddie’s weight as you kissed fervently.
“Are you sure you wanna do this?” Eddie asked for what you swore was the millionth time.
“Yes, Eddie, I’m positive.” You said through sloppy kisses.
“Just don't want you to think I'm taking advantage of you.” He sighed as he kissed down the side of your neck.
“Eddie.”
“Hm?” He hummed as he looked up at you through his eyelashes, kissing down your collarbone.
“Shut up and fuck me.” You moaned as he sucked on your skin, hickey’s blooming in his wake.
“Don’t gotta tell me twice,” Eddie mumbled into your skin, tapping your elbow to raise your arms so he could remove your shirt.
Pieces of clothing continued to fly as he stripped you from head to toe, worshipping your skin slowly as it was revealed. He loved the way you tasted, his tongue peaking out occasionally to lick the skin beneath his lips.
At this point, you were a sensitive writhing mess. You wanted nothing more than for him to just fuck you, but if you knew Eddie at all, you knew he’d tease you until you physically couldn’t take it anymore.
“Eddie please,” You begged, your pleas falling upon deaf ears.
Eddie continued on like he’d never heard you, trailing kisses down your inner thigh, getting dangerously close to your pussy without ever actually touching it.
You bucked up into his face, attempting to get some relief from the heat bubbling in the pit of your stomach. This made Eddie nip your thigh, soothing the area with his tongue immediately after.
“So impatient, Cariño.” Eddie teased, “but, I suppose I’ve made you wait long enough.”
Eddie dove straight in, eating you out like a starved man being set in front of a feast. He immediately sucked your clit into his mouth, teasing your entrance with the tip of his index finger, never actually inserting it into your heat.
Gasps and moans tumbled from your lips, his assault on your nether regions felt amplified. Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe he really was just that good at giving head. Either way, you couldn’t care less. The only thing on your mind being how good he was making you feel.
Eddie felt like he could stay in this position forever, you tasted like heaven on his tongue and now that he’s had a taste he doesn’t know if he could ever stop.
“God you taste so good.” Eddie practically moaned into your pussy.
Those words made your stomach flutter as you looked down at him, the sight that greeted you nearly made you cum immediately.
Eddie was practically fucking the bed beneath him, grinding his hips into the sheets. He was getting off on just eating you out.
“God, Eddie. Look at you, you’re so pathetic.” You moaned, loving the idea that he’d suppress himself of pleasure just to get you off.
“Only for you,” he mumbled into your heat.
Eddie began pistoning his fingers inside of you, speeding up the pattern of his tongue. Your moans got louder and louder with this change, signaling to him that you were about to cum.
This made him halt his actions immediately, sitting back on his heels to watch you writhe and complain.
“Why’d you stop? I was so close.” You pouted.
“‘Cause i’m no where near being done with you.” He smirked, unclasping his belt and pulling his pants down barely enough to get his cock out.
Your jaw nearly fell off when you saw the size of him, pondering how and where it was supposed to fit inside of you.
You couldn’t lie and say you hadn’t thought about Eddie in that way before. You’d figured he’d be big, but, Eddie was hung.
“There’s no way you’re gonna fit.” You said in shock while Eddie stroked his cock slowly, spitting in his palm to lube himself up.
“Don’t worry, baby. I’ll go slow to start, okay?” Eddie reassured.
You nodded as he lined himself up with your entrance, giving him silent consent to begin pushing himself deep inside your aching pussy.
“Oh fuck.” You gasped out, the ache of him stretching you out hurt so good.
Eddie slowly began giving you shallow thrusts, fucking more of his length into you with each thrust. His pace began to speed up quickly, he wanted to be patient for you, but he just couldn’t bring himself to hold back. Tears of pleasure pricked your eyes as Eddie filled you to the brim. You’d never felt so full before, you swore you could feel him in your stomach.
“Oh God.” You moaned loudly, your nails scratching down his back, leaving small scratches and blood droplets in their wake.
“God isn’t the one making you feel this good, baby. I am.” Eddie said cockily, pressing down lightly on the slightly visible outline of his cock in your stomach. You yelped with pleasure, your legs trembling around his waist as you struggled to put together a coherent thought.
His thrusts got deeper and deeper each time, his cock stroking a place inside of you that you didn’t even know existed. The little bundle of nerves shooting waves of pleasure all throughout your body.
“Eddie ‘m gonna cum.” You whimpered, your fingers moving to rub your clit while Eddie fucked you relentlessly. Eddie, noticing this, immediately slapped your hand away, using his hand to replace yours. He rubbed quick small circles into your clit that sent shivers up your spine.
“Go ahead, baby. I know it feels so good, go ahead and cum for me.” Eddie encouraged through panting breaths.
Your orgasm plowed through you in waves, a scream tearing its way out of your throat. Your body convulsed as you sprayed evidence of your orgasm all over the sheets and Eddie’s lower abdomen, you couldn't tell how long your orgasm lasted. All you knew was your ears rung for a solid 10 seconds after it finished wracking its way through your body.
“Got you gushin’ for me, Cariño.” Eddie smirked, catching a drop from his stomach on his finger and sucking it into his mouth.
Eddie eased his way out of you, pulling you up off the bed and pushing you to your knees on the floor.
His cock sat above your face in all of its glory, still hard and leaking precum. His tip was an angry red color and you knew he wanted to cum so bad.
“Open wide for me, I know you can take it.” Eddie encouraged, easing his cock between your lips.
You sucked him into your mouth immediately, too cockdrunk to think about anything else but the man in front of you. You swirled your tongue around his tip, taking his balls into your hand to massage them softly.
“Shit, baby, you’re so good at this. Such a good girl f’ me.” Eddie mumbled, pulling all of your hair into one of his fists, using it to guide your head up and down his cock.
All you cared about was pleasing him, he made you cum so good, the least you could do was return the favor.
“Fuck, ‘m gonna cum all over that pretty face.” Eddie said, beginning to use your hair to face fuck you. You simply sat back and relaxed, letting him do whatever he pleased to you to make himself cum.
When his hips began to falter, you knew he was about to cum. He pulled you up off of his cock and began stroking his length above your face, throwing his head back with a groan.
His load shot out onto your face in warm spurts, his hips thrusting to meet the strokes of his hand while he moaned.
Once he made sure his entire load was on your face, he smiled, patting your cheek softly before using his first two fingers to collect some of his cum off of your face.
“Open,” Eddie instructed firmly, your mouth falling open for him. He took his fingers and pushed them into your mouth, your lips closing around them as you sucked the salty fluid off of his fingers.
“Such a good girl for me.” Eddie smiled at you.
You could’ve sworn you felt high, maybe that was just the effect Eddie had on you.

slow motion, double vision in rose blush
Buck/Eddie, hot infidelity summer, getting together, E, 20k
Summary:
Eddie has kissed a man.
Eddie Diaz. His friend. His Eddie. Has kissed a man.
Which is strange because Buck is sure as hell he'd remember kissing Eddie.
Or, Buck is very normal about his platonic friend's kissing habits.
Later, Buck is going to look back on this moment and realize it’s the moment that sets off a chain reaction changing his entire life for good.
The thing about such moments is that you don’t realize it while you’re living in them. No, right now, for Buck it’s just another Friday night, another get together with his co-workers and friends, another regular night at the bar.
It’s one of those very lucky, very rare weeks where everyone has the weekend off, so instead of heading home after their shift, the 118 - sans Bobby, who’s still busy house hunting with his wife, and obviously no Gerrard - go out. The others join in not too long after, Karen, and Maddie who drags Josh behind her.
“Maddie!” Buck squeals in excitement at seeing his older sister.
She does no such thing. “Oh, my god, Buck, are you drunk already?” She chuckles as he pulls her in an admittedly clumsy hug over the table.
“Nope,” Buck answers, and it’s not totally a lie. He’s veering into the territory of drunk, and fast, but he’s just not there, yet. Though, after Chimney’s bachelor party, he’s not sure if he wants to be. Right now, the slight, pleasant buzzing beneath his skin and the weightlessness to his body are enough.
“Yet,” Eddie supplies anyway from where he’s sitting next to him. The threatening, narrowed eyes Buck fixes him with go without an acknowledgement from the man.

a little fluff for @starrystevie's birthday! hope it's the absolute best day! ✨
Eddie misses Steve.
It's equal parts cute, and maybe a little pitiful because it's only three days in Chicago for his friend's Bachelor Party, but it's already been two days and he misses Steve. Bandit digs his claws into Eddie's thigh as he makes biscuits and begs for pets, curling up comfortably next to Eddie's lap and leaving Steve's side of the couch overwhelmingly cold and empty.
"I know, kid. I know," Eddie coos, scratching their cat behind the left ear as he purrs.
He's glad that Steve had been able to get the time off from work to go, and he's glad that Steve's made friends on his recreational basketball league, and he's not jealous. At all. Not even a little bit.
... Okay, maybe he is a little bit jealous that Brandon gets to see him sweaty and gross in the June heat, running around doing whatever jock-activity they've planned in the backyard of their rented house all weekend, but who can blame him? Steve never gives him a reason to feel insecure so he knows this isn't about Steve. It's not rooted in anything even remotely related to him or their relationship— it's all about Eddie and the nasty voice in the back of his head that pulls out a bullhorn and screams not good enough on a loop.
Condensation from the beer in his free hand drips down his wrist as he rests his elbow on the arm of the couch. It's not the first time he's felt this way, and Steve himself has admitted to feeling the same way from time to time, so he knows that it'll pass. He just needs to focus on something else: DND campaign planning, sketching, writing, cracking out the ol' guitar. He could rewatch Howard the Duck for the hundredth time, or maybe even Labyrinth—
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
Eddie's phone buzzes on the coffee table and he fully expects it to be Gareth or Jeff, or maybe Robin. They have plans later that night, both of them missing Steve and all. What he doesn't expect is a series of text messages and 19 photos from Steve.
How funny. It's been five years since they'd become EddieandSteve but seeing Steve's name and smiling photo on his phone sets his little hummingbird heart aflutter even still.
steve 👑: it's so goddamn hot here steve 👑: we're playing cornhole now and just threw a football around steve 👑: sweating all the beer and vodka out as a I go, that's healthy, right? don't worry, I'm drinking a shit ton of water.
Steve includes a selfie of himself, smiling closed-lipped with a baseball cap on backwards and the neck of his tee-shirt drenched in sweat. Eddie wants to lick him dry and that's a thought he'll never tell a living soul, probably not even Steve. No, no definitely not Steve. He'll never live that one down.
steve 👑: oh, and fishing was good! we made some bets on who could catch the most and then who could catch the biggest. I tied for first place for the biggest and I caught 17. brandon got 20 so he won that bet. I'm only letting it go because it's his bachelor party lmao
Eddie swipes to the next photo, one of Steve and Brandon holding their two biggest catches. Steve's sunglasses are sliding down his nose, no doubt from the sun warming his glistening skin, and he's smiling wide against the railing of a boat. As much as he misses him, Eddie can't help but mirror his smile. Call him lovesick or 'down bad', as Robin says, but seeing Steve happy makes him happy.
He continues swiping and reading the little blurb attached to each photo, some of which don't even include Steve but Eddie appreciates them all the same. They don't include Steve, but it feels a lot like Steve trying include Eddie in the weekend. The last picture is one of the entire group, all dozen or so guys lined up on the ship. Brandon stands in the center surrounded by the rest of the group with Steve shuffled in no meaningful spot but to Eddie, Steve is the center of every photo, every moment, everything.
Eddie starts to type a response when his phone dings again. This time, Steve sends a voice message and Eddie presses play so quickly, he nearly knocks poor Bandit off his lap.
Hey, takin' a break from cornhole. I won, by the way, had to make up for losing to Brandon in the fishing bet.
Steve laughs and Eddie's stomach flips. Robin's right. He's down very, very bad for this man.
But I just uh, I miss you, and I know maybe that's sorta lame but I do. The party's great and all, but I can't wait to get back home tomorrow. Tell the kid I said hi. I love you, Ed.
He replays it a few times and shamelessly taps Keep so it doesn't disappear before sending his own voice message.
It's no more lame than me sitting here with Bandit sharing how much we miss you, so you get a pass. I mean, you get a pass on everything all the time, but don't let that go to your pretty head, okay? I'm so fucking glad you're having fun and sowing your jocky oats, but selfishly, I can't wait for you to get home. I'll make it worth your while.
He huffs air through his nose and laughs low in his throat.
Oh, and Robin's coming by in a little bit so I'm gonna grab a bottle of wine. Don't be surprised if you get a FaceTime call later. I love you too, Stevie. So goddamn much.
Eddie sure does miss Steve, but it stings a little less knowing that Steve misses him, too.

Buddie 7x06 Meta
HURRAH! It's not a four-parter this time!! Just a one-parter! It's a Madney/Chim-centric episode (which by the way I loved) but the buddie we got was AMAZING! I'm so excited for the rest of the season. We're just gonna dive right in!
First, I want to say that with the hindsight of this episode, we now know that the bachelor party was not ACTUALLY something that needed to happen, narrative-wise. It didn't actually contribute anything to the Chim plot, as that would've happened with or without buddie going crazy in the hotel room. So, all of the Bachelor Party was written purely for the purpose of watching Buck and Eddie have a good time. Maybe for comedic relief, maybe for the purposes of furthering their story at a later point in the series. Time will tell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First, I've seen other people point out that Buck expected Eddie to be early (even though he's the first person there) because he wanted Eddie to help him set up for Chim's party. To Buck, Eddie is the person who helps him with everything. This is Buck's idea, yes, but Eddie is the proverbial co-host in this married dynamic. So Eddie being "late" feels more like Buck being disappointed his partner wasn't there to help him behind the scenes to make everything perfect. It really does make the whole scene feel like Buck-and-Eddie (the bro-in-laws) throwing the party. So of course Eddie's breaking the unspoken rules by being late.
I love how Eddie walks in completely ready to be fawned over by Buck with their couple's outfit. It's hilarious to me because 1.) Tommy was planning on coming, Buck could've told Eddie he wanted to do a couple outfits with Tommy instead?, and 2.) Eddie was fishing for compliments and it just makes me giggle. If Buck wasn't so stressed out over this bachelor party, he likely would've reacted how Eddie wanted and given him a bunch of compliments on his look. It was jaw-dropping. If most of us (the audience) were blown away seeing Eddie in a pink suit for the first time in the bts (to the point where most of us were like "no way he's in character, this has to be Ryan's wardrobe choice"), I know that the other characters were too. It's not Eddie's typical wardrobe choice. In fact, it's such an out-of-character fashion choice for him, that it's unlikely that Eddie just had this lying around in his closet to throw on. He probably had to go and buy a suit like this just for the occasion. Eddie had to put in a lot of effort to do this couple's costume with Buck, and he did it all happily and enthusiastically. We'll come back to this in just a second because...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CLIPBOARD BUCK IS BACK! sans clipboard but you get my drift. I love how this visually connects Buck to his sister and harkens back to a lovely Buddie moment "This is Eddie's house, I'm not really a guest" back in season 3. This time around, we have Eddie assuming he would get special husband privileges and is pouty when Buck doesn't allow it.
BUT at the same time, he's not getting on Buck's case too much about it beyond the initial pouting. He may not know why Buck's so insistent on throwing a party, but he knows it's what Buck wants, so he moves on, and even watches with somewhat amusement when clipboard Buck gets turned on Ravi for doing the same thing later.
I also want to point out that Eddie has never once, ever, been upset with, annoyed by, or irritated with Buck when he's in Clipboard Buck mode. Most of the time, Eddie either finds it amusing cute, or is just generally accepting of it. This is no exception, however, this later devolves into Buck and Eddie going absolutely wild. This further exemplifies how Buck and Eddie accept and support each other, even when the other is being lowkey stupid (everything they do at the bachelor party) or unreasonable (clipboard Buck). It's all very much partner in crime coded.
Tumblr media
Framing. Jesus Christ the FRAMING. Tommy walks in and not even two seconds into the interaction, the camera frames Eddie FRONT AND CENTER between them, watching Buck and then watching Tommy. Buck and Tommy hug and when they pull back, there's Eddie watching them with an odd look on his face. I'm not going to go so far as to call this jealousy/pettiness, but it is odd. There's an intimate physical moment between Buck and Tommy, and then Eddie, who constantly haunts their narrative, is just there. And he's actually objecting to Tommy's presence there. Not in a mean or hostile way, but just a second ago he was high-fiving Tommy, welcoming him in, but once the physical special relationship between Buck and Tommy is established, Eddie starts to bristle a little bit.
Tumblr media
This entire exchange is just odd. Eddie knows that Tommy is friends with Chim. He has every right to be there for Chim alone. He's also aware that Buck now has a closer relationship with Tommy, and Buck's the only one who wants this bachelor party, so it should be obvious that Tommy would come. And yet...Eddie is questioning Tommy's presence there. He's reducing Tommy to Buck's "date", not Eddie's friend or Chim's friend, or someone who's slowly integrating into the group. No, it only becomes a problem when Tommy is there as "Buck's date".
Tumblr media
This is then proven by Tommy, who's actually known Chimney longer than either Buck or Eddie have known him. He has all the right to be invited. But what's especially interesting is Buck's face when Eddie starts expressing objections to Tommy's presence. He looks shocked, a little worried, loss for words. Like he's worried Eddie is disapproving of them. It could be worry lingering from last episode, where Buck was afraid of his queerness pushing Eddie away. It also showcases a bit of awkwardness between Tommy and Eddie too. Eddie has been established as enjoying spending time with Tommy, and now he's hesitant to have Tommy in spaces with Buck as a romantic partner. It demonstrates that maybe Eddie isn't as comfortable with Buck and Tommy together as he led Buck/the audience to believe. But where is that uncomfortablity stemming from? That's yet to be determined canonically.
Buck then goes on the deny that Tommy is his date (for the bachelor party) and insists that Tommy is only his date officially tomorrow at the wedding. I personally don't understand why Buck would need to clarify that Tommy isn't his date to the bachelor party. If they're dates for one, it's usually assumed they're dates for the other, especially given how close the events are. I get that Buck wants to make the night about Chimney, but it can be about Chimney and still have Tommy there as a date.
Tumblr media
This is also an interesting line that I've pondered over. Because while it's true that taking Tommy as a date anywhere would be hard launching both Buck's queerness and his relationship with Tommy, which could draw attention away from Madney and to Buck, but it also shouldn't be that big of a deal (and is proven at the end of the episode too). If the wedding had gone to plan originally, then Buck and Tommy going together wouldn't have had to have drawn too much attention. He could've told Chim, Hen, his parents + everyone separately before the ceremony even began. It didn't have to be such a huge deal, so I was wondering why Eddie brings out the usual phrase the show tends to use when they want to remind Buck that not everything is about him. But Buck wasn't trying to make it about him. Eddie should know this. As much as Buck has had issues in the past of taking things far too personally, and believing things to be more about him than they actually are, that's not what is happening here.
I actually think Eddie saying this line is more revealing of Eddie's feelings than it is about Buck making it about him again. It's revealing that Buck, his relationship with Tommy, and Buck's queerness are a big deal to Eddie, enough so that he believes it will draw a lot of attention. And maybe Eddie's not as cool with the idea of everyone knowing about Buck and Tommy as he tells himself. I want to reiterate that I don't believe any of this stems from legit homophobia towards Buck and/or Tommy, but more so a discomfort Eddie harbors about Buck's queerness, what it means for Eddie, and what Buck being with Tommy takes away from Eddie. All of this is unconscious, confusing, and frustrating for Eddie, and therefore what comes out of Eddie's mouth is a barb at Buck's expense. And it's why his reaction to BuckTommy at the end of the episode is kind of muted but mostly positive. He's confused.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buck had told Tommy previously that it was an 80s theme party and asked him to dress up. This brings me back to my previous point that Buck could've asked Tommy to dress up with him. Instead, Buck and Eddie are framed as the literal "couple" here visually, and Tommy is framed as the odd one out. Not only that, but what he is wearing is a Henley, which as most of us know, is a staple of Eddie's wardrobe. (General author's note: I don't usually harp on about wardrobe choices in the show because that's not my specialty but I will here because it is a textual part of the plot).
We've previously established in the last few episodes that Tommy is a narrative mirror to Eddie. Tommy's meant to be like Eddie in almost every way, same interests, similar personality types, etc. He's even paralleling Eddie here by dressing the same way Eddie normally dresses. But it's being juxtaposed by Eddie standing right beside him (once again Eddie is framed in the middle throughout this entire exchange with Buck/Tommy when Eddie very easily could've just stepped off to the side to let them have some privacy). EDDIE is dressed way differently than he usually is in a bright pink suit, going out of his way to make Buck happy even if it brings him out of his comfort zone wardrobe-wise. And in contrast, Tommy did not take the time to dress up, even though he knew Buck wanted him to. I'm not saying that this makes Tommy a bad person, or inconsiderate of Buck, but it's just one of those little things. One of those forethought things that Tommy just isn't aware of because he's only been dating Buck for a few weeks at this point.
Others have pointed out that Tommy would've had to change out of his clothes and into his uniform regardless if he was on standby, so why couldn't he have at least just added a little bit of 80s flair to his current outfit? It wouldn't have been any more time-consuming. Maybe it would've put Tommy out of his own comfort-zone, or maybe he would've been a bit embarrassed, but that's the kind of thing that one might reasonably risk in order to make their partner happy.
Tommy isn't aware that by not dressing up, he's hurting Buck's feelings. That's just one of those things he wouldn't know about Buck because he does not have the lived experience of what Buck needs emotionally from his partners. Eddie, on the other hand, has years of experience with Buck and knows that if he really wanted to he could be just like everyone else who didn't dress up and that Buck would put on a face of being fine with it, but deep down inside, it would make Buck feel ignored and hurt. Eddie doesn't want to ignore Buck, and as we've seen from his last line about "making it about you", Eddie can't ignore Buck. So even if it means pushing himself out of his comfort zone, Eddie's going to show up in full costume, ready and enthusiastic to be with Buck.
All of this is being done for a purpose. It's to show us that while Buck and Tommy are still learning and developing their relationship, something is off, specifically in comparison to Eddie. The show is purposely framing Eddie as a better partner to Buck than Tommy is being in the current moment. Which is kind of unfair, if you think about it. If the show was setting Tommy up to be Buck's newest love and future endgame, they would instead be giving them opportunities to grow together, to get to know each other. Instead, the show is telling us in every subtly way it can that hey, wouldn't Buck fit so much better with Eddie instead? It's contradictory and doesn't further the plot if BuckTommy growth was the purpose. These bachelor party scenes as plot devices only work if the purpose is to show the audience that something isn't fitting with Buck and Tommy, but whatever that missing piece is, it does fit with Buck and Eddie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tommy then doesn't understand that they're supposed to be dressed up as the Miami Vice characters. He instead assumes The Wedding Singer (1998). First, I want to say that this is the 2nd Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore romcom that's been mentioned in canon in relation to Buck (the first being 50 First Dates in the season 5 finale) and as a huge fan of those movies, I'm fangirling. Second, it aligns with Tommy's s2 characterization where he loves romcoms (Love, Actually, and now The Wedding Singer). Third, it's an interesting choice from the writers here to pick The Wedding Singer as the movie that springs to Tommy's mind. There are plenty of 80s movies with bright colors that could've been name-dropped. They instead purposely went for a movie about the 80s but made in the late 90s, for the express purpose of having Eddie point out that Tommy's wrong. This is all very subtle, but it definitely does feel like Eddie is trying to lowkey one-up Tommy. But why would he feel the need to do this?
I've seen others point this out as well, but The Wedding Singer is about two people who are engaged to other people who are very obviously not right for them, though they might try to convince themselves differently. I rewatched the movie yesterday morning and I found it very enlightening. Adam Sandler's character is very much in love with Drew Barrymore's character, and almost tells her to leave her fiance for him, but in the end, he assumes incorrectly that she's happy with the other guy, and leaves them be. Drew Barrymore's character was ready to settle with someone she didn't fully love for security, and the only reason she doesn't tell Adam Sandler's character the truth is because she thinks he's still in love with his ex. It's all very miscommunication-y, but at the same time, it's reflective of Buck and Eddie's characters currently too given that neither of them really knows what they're looking for, they're just seeking a feeling, and may or may not be finding it in their current respective partners. But in the end, even after all the miscommunications, there's a HEA in The Wedding Singer.
Something else of mention was how in the movie, Adam Sandler's character was asked how he knew that things weren't working out with his ex and he said something along the lines of "It was the little things. Like, one time we were going to the Grand Canyon, and I had never been there before and she had, and instead of letting me take the window seat in order to see the beauty of it from above, she took the window seat for herself." This reminded me of this scene with Tommy, where it's just the little things that aren't fitting between him and Buck. I will come back to the topic of BuckTommy and misalignment later.
Tumblr media
There have been many posts discussing how Crockett and Tubbs are another one of those "manly" buddy-cop pairings who were very queer-coded best friends who obviously never got together. Many people believed Crockett to be bi-coded as well. What's interesting to me is that this marks the second/third time in the last two episodes where they argued about who is the bi-coded character. I just find it interesting meta-textually when you think about the fact that fans used to argue incessantly (still do honestly) about whether Buck or Eddie could be queer and now that Buck is confirmed to be queer, people argue that Eddie can't be queer now. Additionally (I don't watch Miami Vice but I looked at a lot of the pictures) it seems that visually, Eddie should be aware that he is dressed as Tubbs, since most of pictures of them feature Crockett in blue/green semi-casual and Tubbs in pink/elevated suits. Visually, their roles should be obvious to anyone who is familiar with the show. Just like how Buck's queerness is now obvious. But now, the argument is well, there's an argument to be made that Eddie could be Crockett, and subtextually, also queer.
The narrative continues to hint with every single episode that passes that it's very likely Eddie will discover his own queerness at some point in the show. Just like there's no need for Buck and Eddie to argue over who gets to be Crockett, they can both be Crockett for christ's sake, they're both gonna end up queer. Of that I am certain.
Tumblr media
So not only was Eddie totally down to clown with Buck at this karaoke bachelor party, but he was the one who suggested the couple's costume. We see more instances of Eddie not trying to tell Buck "hey, Chim said he didn't want a party, so don't do it", instead he goes along with it and finds a way to be even more enthusiastic about it. And I don't think that that was just because Eddie really wanted to party. I think it was because Eddie realizes that Buck must be wanting to do this for a reason. Possibly Buck might be doing this because he wants to show Chimney just how supportive he is of him and Maddie, maybe it's because Buck never got to be too involved with Maddie's last wedding because Doug hated him. Maybe this is his way of trying to make up again for his actions in season 5 when Maddie left and Buck didn't tell Chim. Or hell, maybe it's just now hitting Buck that he's going to have a brother, for real now, after realizing all he lost with Daniel, and wants to make this day special for Chim to showcase his appreciation of their brotherhood.
Buck is obviously overcompensating for something, and Chim and the rest of the gang don't realize why the bachelor party is so important to Buck. Hell, Eddie might not know entirely either, but he does sense that there is something more than just "I want to party" going on with Buck and this bachelor party. And so, as always, he is ride or die for Buck.
Then, when everyone else gets up to leave karaoke, Eddie doesn't even get up. He doesn't make it look like he's also considering leaving either. He doesn't check his watch or phone or make it seem like it's a burden or an inconvenience to be there or like there's somewhere else he'd rather be.
Tumblr media
Once again, this scene with Tommy and Buck is framed with Eddie clearly in the picture, to show how he's just chilling, drinking, and ready to stick it out with Buck regardless of what happens. And then Tommy is the last one to finally leave and disappoint Buck that night.
And now I want to bring it back to BuckTommy, misalignment, and the ever-present Screaming Universe. If this was real life, it would just be a coincidence, but it's not. This is scripted fiction and everything is done with a purpose. What purpose did the writers have to get rid of Tommy but keep Eddie around to party with Buck all night long? If the writers wanted, they could've had Tommy stick around, more so to show a juxtaposition between the three of them hanging out. Or the writers could've had Eddie leave, and Tommy stay. It would've served the same purpose. Tommy still could've left the next morning for work and come back sooty for the kiss. Instead, the story/universe wanted Tommy to leave and this undeniably creates a micro-conflict between Buck and Tommy. It's undeniable that Buck is disappointed that Tommy's leaving and that he didn't really seem all that enthused to be there in the first place. Tommy then leaves, he's gone for the majority of the episode and comes back at the end. This is now a pattern for the third time in a row.
In Tommy's introduction episode 7x04, he and Buck have a moment at the beginning of the episode, a conflict between Buck and Tommy is introduced, Tommy is there a couple times throughout but he and Buck do not have any one-on-one scenes again until the end where their "miscommunication" is resolved by their kiss. In 7x05, they have their date at the beginning where weirdness happens and Tommy ends it, is gone the rest of the episode, until he returns at the end for Buck to make up with and rekindle. And now in 7x06, Tommy is there at the beginning, there's a misconnection, Tommy leaves for the rest of the episode, and they reconnect at the very end.
That's three whole instances of conflict with BuckTommy all written in a very similar way back to back to back. All of these conflicts revolve around the theme of misalignment and not knowing what they want personally nor what the other person wants. All of this harkens back to that first little moment with Buck and Tommy in 7x03 where Buck pats Tommy's arm, Tommy reaches to connect their hands and misses. I predicted that this would be a metaphor for the rest of their relationship, and so far I've been right. Because it seems like no matter how hard both of them try, they aren't quite connecting, not to the fullest. There is always a conflict that pops up that pulls them apart every single episode and they have to find ways to resolve this at the end. Again, if this was irl it'd be a different story, but as part of a narrative where they're not only trying to showcase Buck's first-ever queer relationship but also strongly comparing it to his "platonic" relationship with Eddie, it feels pointed and poignant. Buck and Tommy's constant misalignment feels like the "universe" trying to tell them something but they're not yet at the point of understanding what.
Tumblr media
I highly doubt Buck would've wanted to party with a bunch of strangers if he wasn't feeling so disappointed by both Tommy and Chim. Eddie too, I'm wondering why he didn't want to go home or go be with Chris and visit his family. Or maybe go and see if maybe Marisol wanted to hang out. In fact, Marisol not being in this episode at all, or even mentioned, after the last episode is telling as well.
Many people have pointed out that the karaoke scene parallels Maddie and Chim, and this is even more pointed when the song that is playing when Maddie and Chim get married is Island in the Stream which is the song they first sang karaoke to. Buck and Eddie we know sing "What I Like About You" by the New Romantics, which Oliver, Ryan, and Tim all described as the best song for them to sing to/with each other at this point in time. I still think of it as canon even though we didn't hear it (I get why, they had little time and also licensing is expensive). This song is a romantic song, that's undeniable, and it also makes me think of Shrek and Fiona so it's double iconic. It's also an interesting choice in the moment where Buck is at a low emotional point, and Eddie chooses to stick around with him, indulge with him, and have fun together. It really is a great moment to show how not only are they there for each other in serious and emotional moments, but they also just enjoy spending time with each other, and would choose to spend time with each other any time they can.
Tumblr media
Now I wanna talk about just how close physically Buck and Eddie get in this episode. For a lot of us, it's kind of whiplash because while Buck and Eddie have hugged and touched before, never so much in this way, or this much, or this intimately. Buck has his arm around Eddie's neck, their faces closer than they've probably ever been before? Buck is literally whispering into Eddie's ear ("keep on whispering in my ear, tell me all the things that I wanna hear because it's true, that's what I like about you") pulling Eddie into his chest. Eddie's leaning his entire upper body onto Buck, resting most of his weight on Buck. They're pressed together thigh to thigh, leaning their knees on each other. All of this demonstrates not just an emotional closeness, but a physical closeness (thank you, ABC, fuck u Fox), and not only that but an intimate physical closeness. All of this coming right after an episode where Buck came out. I love this because it shows a lack of Eddie being weirded out by being physically close to a queer man as a (seemingly) straight man. But it's also just so telling because Buck and Eddie have not been this physically close before....like ever...in this show. And now they are at the turning point of Buck's queerness being made textual and Eddie's queerness being STRONG subtext? Oh my goodness it's such strong storytelling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This might be reading into it, and I acknowledge that, but this dialogue exchange felt to me less like they were talking about all the nameless people who were around them and more so like they were talking about each other. These are strangers, they don't know Chim, let alone love him. Neither do these people know/love Buck or Eddie. Instead, this conversation reads to me more like Buck talking about how Chim should be here because his friends (Buck, Eddie, Hen, etc) love him, and Eddie agrees. Looking even deeper, given that Chim didn't show up and the rest of their friends left them for the night, this feels more like Buck and Eddie talking about themselves. Because why is Eddie here? There's no reason for Eddie to be here partying it up except for the fact that he loves Buck and he wants to make him happy and enjoys spending time with him. This exchange is Buck recognizing that, and Eddie agreeing that he really, really does love Buck. And that's why their shenanigans continue as they all move on to Chim's hotel room.
Tumblr media
They could've given up/left once Chim's door was locked, but Eddie encourages Buck to keep on going. Touching Buck like how Eddie loves to touch Buck, in the way that's most appropriate for them, on the shoulder like this. Then he kicks the door in and when Buck is ready to go wake Chim up to party, Eddie's like "Eh let him sleep", because, for Eddie, he doesn't really need Chimney around to have fun. Despite what they were just saying about bringing the party to Chimney so that Chimeny could feel the love too, Eddie's perfectly content just partying it up with Buck and only Buck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These three clips in the bachelor party montage....I'm just gonna be frank with you, they're so obviously meant to look sexual. So CONTENT WARNING**** for me about to talk about sexual positions and such.
I don't have to tell you that although Buck and Eddie are technically partying with a bunch of other people, none of them are actually important. They're NPCs there to give Buck and Eddie an excuse to do all of this stuff with each other. So everything they do in this scene is more so a reflection of their relationship with each other, as well as their metaphorical queerness than it is about just general partying.
We know (due to bts) that at some point Eddie was leaning over to pour alcohol into Buck's mouth. It looks like Buck is leaning back on the couch in his most favorite/frequent canonical sex position (girl on top/riding) that we've seen in the past. This time with his mouth wide open with a phallic symbol pouring a liquid directly into his mouth. It looks like a blowjob/cum shot. Then we have Eddie with his clothes being pulled off and torn away. From the bts, we know that Buck is behind him and helps the girls pull off his sleeves. Other than the obvious "ripping each other's clothes off" metaphor, there's also the "orgasmic" look on Eddie's face as well. Others have also discussed how Eddie appears to be recreating the "crucifixion pose" /Jesus on the cross with his arms out like that in a reference to his catholic guilt arc and how before he's very much let that guilt control him and now in this scene with his close being ripped off, it can also be a metaphor for Eddie's eventually freedom from compulsory heterosexuality and guilt.
The last still with both Buck and Eddie vigorously shaking champagne bottles near the crotches (mimicking mutual masturbation) and then both of the champagne bottles "explode" mimicking both of them reaching a mutual climax, which then cuts immediately to both of them waking up the next morning. It's very very obviously a metaphorical gay sex scene.
Tumblr media
Separately from that, I want to discuss this specific still, with both Buck and Eddie in between 2 very clear-as-day drag queens. This inclusion elevates the scene subtly yet very clearly to represent both Buck AND Eddie in proximity to queerness/the queer community. It further cements the queerness of this entire montage scene.
Finally, to conclude the bachelor party scenes, I just want to reiterate, that Buck and Eddie could've figured out Chim was missing any which way. They could've gone over the next morning w/o partying there. Buck could've gone by himself, etc. There were many ways the "Chim is missing" plot could've been done without needing to go this route for Buck/Eddie. Which means that this plot was not for any necessary reason other than to bring Buck and Eddie together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then while they're going on their chase to find Chimney, Buck and Eddie are paired up together the entire time, working together as a team, once again looking more like an established couple than anything else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, as if fitting with the BuckTommy "beginning and ending only" episode pattern, Tommy comes back only at the very end of the episode, and he and Buck kiss, transferring soot onto Buck's face and providing a very quick and easy way to come out to all the rest of the people who haven't yet known about Buck. Most people look surprised, others smug (Henren, we'll get to them) and Eddie gives an interesting close-lipped smile. This moment in and of itself isn't very loud. His face is purposely vague here (hats off to Ryan, king of microexpressions). Of course, Eddie's going to look happy for them, he's not going to look jealous. But his smile could be brighter, his eyes could be warmer. There's again just something off about his expression there. I think it's confusing for a reason, because Eddie too is confused about everything he's feeling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hen is incredibly smart, so I'm not surprised that she clocked Buck's queerness a while ago. Her telling Karen this, and Karen's agreement means that this is something they likely discussed in private as well. In my opinion, if she was able to clock Buck, there's no way she hasn't also clocked Eddie. She just isn't saying anything because she's a respectful and empathetic person.
Hen wasn't really there for most of Buck's Tommy-arc, but she WAS front and center for all of Eddie's "performance anxiety" around dating women. Trust me, when Eddie figures it out and he and Buck finally get together, Henren will say something along these lines again, I'm certain of it.
And that's the end of this episode! It was such an emotional ride! I loved everything they did with Maddie and Chimney, and the Buddie plot was so fun! I had a blast, and I'm so excited for next week! I get the feeling the latter half of the season is gonna dive deeper into Eddie's storylines. Yay!

Okay, me and @buckgettingstruck have been going back and forth since yesterday and we have reached enlightenment about bucktommy, and I'm here to share. This isn't an anti post btw, this is us trying to make sense of the relationship in the context of the show.
But imagine you're Tommy. You’ve been closeted for most of your life and you recently came out (yeah, recently, six years is not that long). You left your fiance and decided to come out, but since then most of your relationships — friends and otherwise — have been shallow. For some reason, you don't know how to turn off the instinct to keep people at arm's length.
Suddenly you’re helping your old coworkers rescue your former captain and his wife, and in come Eddie and Buck.
You hit it off with Eddie. He’s very friendly and you have a lot in common, so you're hanging out with him and trying to get a feel for him. Maybe he’s into guys. Hanging out with him is fun, even if you still can’t find any actual reason to open up to him about your life. You go to fights, you practice Muay Thai, you play basketball. You have fun.
And then there’s his crazy ass best friend — Buck.
Buck is spinning out about the two of you hanging out for a few weeks for some reason. You kinda assume there’s something going on with him and Eddie and you try to apologize to the guy. Buck tells you that it's not because he’s jealous of Eddie, it’s because he wants your attention. It throws you for a loop (my attention? You two haven’t really talked since he asked for a tour around Harbor), but your interest is piqued. The guy is hot, and he’s cute in a rambly way so you decide to go for it and it works out in your favor. But in the back of your mind, you know that this dude has some very intense relationship going on with his best friend. You had to bring up Eddie’s kid to get him to warm up to you, after all. But for all you know Eddie is straight, and Buck says he wants your attention. You don’t want anything that serious — breaking off the first engagement was hard enough — and you don’t really have anything to lose by just seeing where this goes. You’ve only been out for six years, so you want to explore. Maybe this could be fun.
The first date is a bit of a trainwreck, and the dude turns out to be too intense. Somehow Eddie showed up with that girlfriend of his he’s never really talked about, and Buck is spinning out. You decide to cut your losses and go home — even if leaving Buck on the curb was a bit of a dick move. But Buck calls you a few days later. You meet for coffee. He tells you he doesn’t know what he wants, but he wants to try with you. He invites you to Chimney’s bachelor party and his wedding to Buck’s sister as a nice gesture and you figure, what the hell? Why not? Maybe it’s a little much, but he’s trying.
In your head, you're in a fun, casual relationship because you haven't had the conversation about it being serious. Since Buck doesn’t bring it up or ask you for very much at all, you believe he is on the same page. You keep him at arm’s length so it stays that way — when he talks about almost losing Bobby, the whole Gerrard mess. It’s subconscious, you think, but keep it light and surface level. You don't want something that deep, and he is following your lead. You maybe see each other once a week, considering you both work 24-hour shifts and have chaotic schedules. You go to dinner, you go to the movies, and maybe you make out a little. It's easy and it's fun, and you can stay that way as long as the Buck doesn't push you further. It’s been almost six months now, and beyond venting about Gerrard a few times, he hasn’t even nudged.
It’s a little weird, though, how Eddie’s always there. And you really like Eddie, honestly, but he’s constantly around. Sometimes it feels like you’re the third wheel here. He’s already there when you arrive for Chimney’s bachelor party, dressed in a suit to match Buck’s and helping set up. Suddenly a few months later you’re being invited to Chris’s Zoom birthday party, where Buck looks just as defeated taking the decorations down as the kid’s father. Buck dislocates his shoulder — you didn’t ask why, and he didn’t volunteer the information — and Eddie is there tucked into the guest chair with a magazine and the shitty hospital coffee, asking about Buck’s recovery and return to work. You do get to stay with him overnight, on his uncomfortable couch and falling asleep as he talks on and on about the corpse he accidentally rented (and alright, why did Buck get mad at him for laughing and not Eddie?). When Buck wakes up with boils the next day it’s not even a question for him to call Eddie. Eddie talks him down a lot better than you could, even if the situation is a bit ridiculous. You don’t miss the way he snaps at you for calling him gross — mentioning your cousin gets shingles is apparently a crime — while he tells Eddie to call his appearance what it is and he’ll believe it’s stress if he says so. But hey, getting boils kinda sucks, and Buck is having a rough go lately, so you move past it. But you don’t miss how Eddie seems to sense that Buck’s picking at his face without looking up from his phone when you’re at the hospital a couple days later because of Hen’s kid. You don’t miss how everyone else gets the good news that he’s going to make it through. Everyone except for you.
You kinda want what Buck has, if you’re being honest. He found a family at the 118, with really intense people on his six, and you’re hoping that when the relationship runs its course you can stay friends. Maybe you can still keep part of that. Maybe that’s still within reach, even if Buck won’t even show you the text everyone else got.
Buck goes from zero to a million after that, because he finds out he dated your ex-fiance and his next course of action is to thank you for gay rights and ask you to move in with him.
Up to this point, you thought you were on the same page — light, casual, fun. He didn’t push, but then he shoved you both off a bridge and now you can't ignore the thing that's been in the back of your mind for the last six months.
Honestly, you have no idea what’s going on with Eddie. The mustache is a choice, and he was doing some funny things with that ring pop back at the hospital, but for all you know, he’s a zero on the Kinsey scale. You know Buck has something going on beneath the surface with how he feels about Eddie, whether he realizes it or not. You knew there was an expiration date on this thing when you started, and you didn’t even mind. You kept it fun and light over the past six months. You kept your distance — maybe a bit too much, considering Abby never came up until now. You hoped maybe you’d get to keep some decent friends once Buck figured his shit out. You knew, even if you tried to ignore it. You tried to enjoy it while it lasted.
You tried to convince yourself it wasn’t there for a while. Buck, as far as he knew, still knew, was telling the truth. He wanted your attention, your time, you. He’s still figuring everything out, and you thought maybe you had more time. Keeping it casual and slow could only go so far, in the end.
Buck nudges once, pushes you to consider what it would be like to be in a relationship with him that's serious. He’s talking about living together and you’re panicking a little bit as a thousand scenarios run through your brain, but you can’t see an ending that's not him realizing he has feelings for someone else and leaving you. Another six months, a year, five years — it's all the same.
You didn’t want to get hurt in this situation, but you will be if you stay. You’ve already hurt people by denying the truth before.
So you tell him — I know how this ends.
You didn’t want to. You never really planned on ending it because you figured he would, but you reached the point where you can't come back. He wants more, and you know that would just end in smoke. Not for him, but for you.
So you have to break this guy’s heart. And you know if you break this guy’s heart, you’re going to become the villain. You lose the entrance to a family you wanted to be a part of. You lose the friendship you had with Eddie, who is just as goddamn weird and crazy about Buck as Buck is about him. You lose the potential friendship in Buck, in them both, in everyone. There’s only one way out of here now.
Buck’s somehow still endearing as you end things. You try to nudge him for once, talking about firsts and lasts. He doesn’t get it. You throw in some line a parking spot because the second reserved one Buck got with his loft went to Eddie years ago. You step into the hall, out of Eddie’s shadow, and walk away with nothing.

here to ask about the camera panning to eddie. give me the freak answer pls
when i saw that shit airing i yelled and spilled wine on my carpet.
like. i feel like this is common sense but i dont know if people realize how intentional each second of a show/movie is. like whether the show is a silly sitcom or a serious drama everything is so intentional and purposeful. of course theres always continuity errors and mistakes that happen when you’re creating a show of that size thats been running for so long but for the most part everything has its intentions. its why you see certain themes come back again and again. im not gonna get into outfit meta or anything like that because its not really my wheelhouse but i did learn a lot about camera techniques and im a writer so. yeah.
shots are one of the most important aspects of a movie or a tv show. they set the mood. close up shots convey intensity and emotion while more wide shots establish a scene etc. they gave us a lot of close up shots of eddie’s face in the kim and eddie scene at the end of 7x09 because it was an intense moment for eddie as a character for example. you have to get the shot right to convey what you want your audience to see yknow.
so. you have the medal ceremony. they couldve done the announcements for these people in literally any order because they fucking wrote the script. they didnt do it alphabetically or anything normal they literally had the trio of triangulated desire standing in the back with buck in the middle AGAIN while chim and hen were being normal and serving cunt up front. and when they were sitting they had buck in the middle again because reasons. then once they got their medals itd pan to their families and significant others clapping. ofc for tommy they pan to buck because thats the person there supporting him. for BUCK they had so many options. they had bobby, his captain that he verbally said was his father figure the next episode, they had maddie, his fucking SISTER AND THE WOMAN WHO RAISED HIM, and they had tommy, the dude he’s dating. instead they pan to eddie.
literally that is the absolute LOUDEST fucking thing the show has done so far in my opinion. they panned to buck for tommy!!! they couldve panned back to buck or done it in a different order if they didnt wanna repeat so they could pan to them for each other!!! but they panned to eddie and the director of photography was even emphasizing that choice on twitter.
the entire bi arc had eddie written all over it. they had so many opportunities to shove their relationship to the side and double down on their friendship but they didnt. instead we had buck tweaking at the gym where we have no idea who eddie was even talking to on that phone, eddie constantly mentioned by buck in a kiss scene with someone else, the line of all time ‘MY attention?’, eddie interrupting the date next episode, buck not even giving a FUCK about the date because he lied to eddie, the shit maddie said that episode about being confused about his feelings, eddie saying nothing is gonna change between them (which. thats a chekov’s gun if ive ever seen one), and all the entire shit with the bachelor party. not even mentioning the implications of the song choice for the karaoke scene that paralleled madney because we didnt get it in the episode. they couldve completely avoided all of that but they didnt and then when buck is dating someone else they dont pan to HIM being happy and supportive for buck, they pan to EDDIE. it feels as if its supposed to remind us what’s actually going on or another attempt to clue us in
also like right after they had the two who were dating acting as acquaintances. and had that guy also kinda put buck’s excitement down at said ceremony. and later in that episode had buck ditch plans with the guy he was dating to make sure eddie was okay. for reasons i guess. so buddie canon or theyre doing a real bad job at getting me to care about bucks actual man

Hi guys and welcome to Addie’s research spiral into the gay moustache:
Moustaches have always been a symbol of masculinity, sexuality and social standing
Like legit dating back to the 1800s we had the whisker and beard movement which started pushing the idea that facial hair can be masculine and sophisticated and not just a sign of lacking in morality and uncleanliness like the victorians used to think and you can actually draw a direct line to men feeling threatened to the patriarchy in those times and the prevalence of facial hair- this assertion of dominance and masculinity being seen similarly in ww1 soldiers, where facial hair became the accepted norm then post ww1 it went out of style again then this cycle repeats again with most wars.
There is also within the later 1800s and early 1900s links to sexuality and rebellion because younger men not having a full beard and instead having clean shaven faces or moustaches was seen as a sign of rebellion against older generations , also the need for maintenance of this style made it viewed as effeminate
Someone put it as the moustache has always been tied with the three fs: fops, foreigners and fiends meaning it was perceived that men would need to be well groomed or gay, foreign (particularly from Latin countries) or lacking in morals and evil to have a moustache
Okay so the origin of the gay moustache aside from the connection to the well groomed element
So post stonewall riots the gay moustache became a real thing like one qoute I found that was funny was arnie kantrowitz saying it was a requirement in the gay community, you needed a a flannel shirt, mustache or beard, bomber jacket, jeans and boots. We were dressing like the blue-collar men that turned us on." And a lot of it stemmed from what was dubbed the Castro clone look
Okay so Freddie was not in fact the originator of the Castro clone look
The castro clone look basically took all the really masculine and macho staples and made it extremely gay
The look originally being inspired by the men of the Castro neighbourhood in San Francisco in the early 60s and THAT actually comes from the “greaser”/hood look inspired by the 50s Italian American men and Latinos who also their subculture was born from their stereotypes
The Castro clone look doesn’t have one distinct origin but its popularity was fuelled by gay artists like Tom of Finland, and musicians like the village people and Freddie and gay pornstars like al Parker
And Parker was one of the big names in the Castro clone look this in particular not only explains the reason for his look well but also peep the “pouring beers over eachother” line and let me take you back to bachelor party buddie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now I hear the republican man and Gerrard mentions and to that I say that’s the whole point of it
Like the hypermasculinised look was meant to not only play the macho aesthetic and be a form of queer signaling but it was also meant to subvert gay men stereotypes by instead doing this like extreme portrayal of masculinity
It’s drawing from straight men but making it’s undeniably queer
Like wife beaters, moustaches, denims and flannels were so tied to het males that they took that and still found a way to make it so undeniably queer that it became a form of queer signaling
Thus taking the power away from the macho hets and forming a new subculture
The gay moustache only started seeing its end around the 80s AIDS epidemic because the moustache aimed to make a person look older but as queer communities became more sick or perceived as unclean or sick the need to look clean and young grew and clean shaved faces became the trend again
So Eddie having the moustache isn’t some tie to Gerrard or straight people it’s actually so queer coded and a form of rebellion
And btw this isn’t even a niche thing it’s like a widely known queer thing to the point that one show got slammed for having a gay club scene set in that time and not having any Castro clones in it

shoot another shot (try to stop the feeling) | 5k
eddie gets drunk and cuts a little too loose, buck tries to pick up the pieces and ends up getting more than he anticipated, tommy just knows
"Evan, he's fine," Tommy tells him yet again. It could be the fifth time tonight he's said it, but Buck is no closer to believing him than he was when this bachelor party started.
Buck just hums distractedly in response, eyes tracking Eddie as he slips out of a heated debate between Hen and Chim to shoot three shots at the bar. He's lost count of exactly how many times Eddie has sneaked in a secret shot between the rounds of drinks they're all splitting, but he knows for a fact this is the drunkest Eddie has ever been since Buck's known him. Eddie is wild and loose in a way that is terrifyingly unfamiliar to Buck. It settles like an itch under his skin, tries to drag something out of the back of his head that he can't quite get a solid grip on.
"He's just cutting loose," Tommy adds placatingly. "Let the guy have some fun."
Buck bristles at this, biting down on something that tastes a lot like the rubber of a basketball.
"No, Tommy." Buck turns back to his boyfriend—his boyfriend!!!!—with that nervous thrum of energy in his chest that usually sticks there in the few moments when he thinks a rescue is about to turn ugly. "I don't think that's what's happening. I wish it was." God, does he wish. If there is one man in the world deserving of letting loose and having pure, uncomplicated fun, it's Eddie. "You have no idea how much I wish it was, but I..." Buck sighs and glances back just in time to watch Eddie join Albert and Ravi on the dancefloor. "I know when he's pretending."
You don't have to pretend with me. Except Eddie does anyway, even if he knows that Buck will know he's pretending. It's some inescapable dance of theirs, a ritual that only ever pre-empts disaster.
"Okay." Tommy sets his beer down, nudges Buck's knee with his own to regain his attention. Buck looks back into the face of Tommy's gentle understanding and blushes just a little at the unwavering trust there. "Talk me through it."
